My fiance is in class 14-10. I got to talk to him for about 5 minutes last night and he's already lost his voice! They have to yell everything at the top of their lungs! I'm in the Navy also and I'm so used to being the one who leaves! I'm the one who has to tell everyone else not to worry, so its really weird being on the other side of it!

Anyone hear any news about the RLP yesterday?
Remember, as it has been posted in some other discussions, OCS is a marathon, not a sprint. RLP is a major evolution, and passing it is a big step toward the class functioning as a team. Almost everyone passes by the 2nd try. Those that passed will help those that didn't. Good luck on tomorrow's re-inspection.
thanks, dmarie. Hopefully NO phone calls for Charlie or Delta!
Helene, I'm Ellen and I believe that my son, James, is your son's roommate. James' girlfriend called me last night and told me about this website (and mentioned that James had a great roommate named Chris who was engaged). Thank You to all who have posted - it's been great to read through all of your posts - and very helpful to a newby. I just got my first letter and it was like gold to me. Of course, I've been writing since I got his address.

Here's wishing that all of our LOs pass PTA and RLP this week.
Hey Ellen! Are you part of the Facebook group? If not, you should check it out. It's called "OCS Class 14-10 Families and Friends."
Thanks, I'll look it up now. I really appreciate all the postings from everyone - it's really helpful.
Please join us on fb. Get girlfriend to join as well.
Hi Ellen!!
Yes, my LO told his fiancee in one of his first letters that his roommate is named James (prior service?) and that they get along GREAT and really look out for each other. He said that roomie had been very helpful with bed making and boot polishing lessons! I am SO thankful for this small mercy of a good roomie...
nice to meet you and I can't wait to meet you and your son at graduation!
Hi Back, Helene,

Yes, he does have prior service experience and I'm sure that he is relieved to have a good roomie too. I do hope that they all pass the RLP and that none are held back. I'm looking forward to meeting you and Chris also. Here's hoping that May 7th is still a go but as was stated earlier, OCS is a marathon so we just have to pray that they stay healthy and able to meet all of the challenges.
Ellen:
I'm the fiance of Chris! He speaks very highly of James! Amanda and I got to chat for a bit on facebook last night, it was nice to put a face to a name. I got her to join the FB page!
Hello Jen,

I'm so glad that James has a good roomie. I just talked with Amanda and she filled me in on what has been going on. It's so nice to be able to share stories/letters. I'm also on FB and have requested to join the 14-10 page. I'm sure I will be on this site everyday. It's hard to believe that our LOs are ending week 4 already. I know that in some way it seems like forever but in other ways the time is going quickly and May will be here soon. Hope you have a good weekend.
From a HS history teacher (me): We all must remember that the United States Navy is THE best Navy in the entire world! We have been the best since the beginning of WWII. The Navy must train our Officers to be as strong as nails if we want to remain the strongest Navy in the world. Since pre WWI the navy has been the US's greatest intimidation power... See More. Even until this day when a country starts "acting a fool" the president will send an aircraft carrier to the region as a show of US power (and the countries usually start to behave because they know an aircraft carrier is the strongest forward moving military equipment in the world!). We need to keep that in mind through these trying times and be proud of these men and women!!!. Go Navy!!!!
"A good Navy is not a provocation to war. It is the surest guaranty of peace." - President Teddy Roosevelt (my favorite president!) :)
It's all for the best, valor, and honor of the United States of America!!!! :)
