My fiance is in class 14-10. I got to talk to him for about 5 minutes last night and he's already lost his voice! They have to yell everything at the top of their lungs! I'm in the Navy also and I'm so used to being the one who leaves! I'm the one who has to tell everyone else not to worry, so its really weird being on the other side of it!

I just posted a note on our FB page....throwing out a life line so to speak....we need to do better about posting on N4M's. I know that there are a few who do not "Facebook". I'll try to do better...I promise! :)
My problem is....my LO isn't very forthcoming with info....I usually learn of evolutions/events from others LO's! :)
Mine neither, and when he is candid, then I'm a bit cautious about divulging all...so much can change in a heartbeat! But we're all headed in the same direction! Candios first...then OFFICERS in the UNITED STATES NAVY!
lol...we just might have to join you guys in the 14-10 FB class...if we past muster and are accepted into the group...:)
Come on and join us!!! :)
It's SUPER active!!
that would be my suggestion! A lot of us have been scared off of this site because of reports that DI's and other people read this forum. On facebook we are able to post our thoughts freely. Also, my computer really messes up when I come here, about haf o my letters getdroppd off..yo see what a mss it is when I don't go bac and repair it all?
you guys crack me up...chuckle, chuckle. See you on FB.
I am not a FB so I can not speak for it, although I have been thinking all morning about what to say about N4M's. Yes we have to be careful what we say on this site, but it is a good practice for when our LO's are in the fleet as we have to be so careful what we say and sometimes won't even know where they are. With that being said I think what the future classes need (I know I did) is the support and knowing they are not the only one not hearing from their LO or anything that is important to know they are not the only ones going through this. The new classes will have no clue of what to expect if we don't help them here. I think truly the things that shouldn't be said are about the DI or how bad something was, that is what FB is for or also private messaging. I'm not preaching just speaking from my heart because I personally would never had made it through my LO's journey without N4M's and private messaging, or sharing email addresses or cell phone numbers. I love hearing what evolution each class is going through and being able to support that.

Helene, that is ok the letters are missing we all know what you are saying.

Everyone have a great day, good luck to your LO's, correct me if I am wrong but you are halfway through?
Sue, yes you are right. It's hard to believe that our LOs have been at OCS for almost 6 weeks. With fingers crossed, we are all making plans for May 7th graduation. There has been discussion of gifts for our LOs and, of course for us ladies, what to wear for the Hi Mom's dinner, PIR and graduation. I will be better about posting to N4M as it too helped me get through the first few weeks.
One of our moms (over on FB) found this web site for commemorative coins - nwtmint.com. They have some wonderful ideas for graduation gifts. Thought I would pass this on since engraving may take some times.
I ordered an Ensign challenge coin from there, and had it engraved "Proud of you, love Mom & Dad" They did a nice job engraving, and the coin is beautiful. Got the plastic cover and blue case to display it in.
I also made arrangements to have a flag flown over the US capitol building on his commissioning day - I'll be calling tomorrow to check on the status, but it is a nice thing to do as well, comes with a certificate confirming that the flag was flown, the date, and what it commemorates. Just get online to your Senator - ours was under constituent service...flag request. Usually takes 6 weeks to get the flag - and they may not be able to fly the flag on your date with short notice - I asked that it be flown on the 26th but that it was not a necessary thing.
I so agree, Sue. My feelings are the same, even though I am on Facebook, I depend on this site so much. I know you can pm here or email, but I don't really want to talk about the personal things about my LO or what they are going through. I believe that time will come when and if our LO wants to talk about it. My DIL and I firmly believe that if we learn now not to talk about certain things it will help us develop that habit as time goes on, and my son is deployed and it is ever so important for us to watch what we say! I am not saying that anyone doesn't already do that, it is just what we decided to do.
Any way you look at it, we do depend on our previous classes LO's to help us through this journey!
Just wanted to say congratulations to the 12-10 class who are graduating this week. And, to all of their loved ones who have been supporting them from home. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.
