For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Getting "the box" was the worst part of boot camp. Thank goodness my son had warned me about "the box". My husband reminded me that this was just a normal part of the boot camp experience. He turned it into a beautiful thing. He told me it was symbolic of my son leaving the boy behind (baggy jeans, tennis shoes, surf shirt) and becoming a man in uniform. He was right!! When I finally was able to open the box, I hugged the clothes and loved being able to smell my son again.
Joining the Navy was the BEST decision my son ever made. He has definitely become and man. A man full of honor, respect and self dignity.
He is proudly serving in Afghanistan today. We are experiencing many of the same things as when he was in boot camp...no contact, uncertainty of what is to come and pain from separation. But I know, as you should know, there are better days ahead!! Go Navy!!!

That is great to hear! Our son's letter wasn't as "warm and fuzzy" as a Mom would like to get. He only had 3 lines, and only mentioned that it wasn't like home!

I know what you mean about the letter not being "warm and fuzzy". You will hear all the great stories after he graduates. My son said by the time they were able to write letters they were so exhausted that all they wanted to do was sleep. He could only write a letter right before "lights out" or he would get up extra early...so you can see why they are so brief. Trust me, your son is missing home and missing his mom more than EVER but he is being told that he is a man and he don't need his momma. They told them "if they needed a momma, a girlfriend or wife then the Navy would have issued them one in their sea bag".
My son is my youngest child and I have always and continue to call him my baby. Immediately after bootcamp he said, "Mom, I not a baby, I am a man". I was so proud but immediately said, "Well ok...baby man". However...his first words to me when he called from Afghanistan was, "Hey Momma, this is your baby boy." Words can not express my joy!!!
Hang in there. That first sight on him on graduation day will be the second best feeling in the world...right behind the best feeling...the first time he wraps those arms around you and squeezes the breath out of you!!!

Thanks for all the encouragment. My son is by baby too. I did get the box of clothes and the letter followed two days later. Very short but I was happy to get what I got. Graduation is May 21st. Any suggestion as of what to bring for my sailor, or what to expect???

Wow, happy. Thank you for raising such a fine young man! Your post touched my heart. Especially the part where you hugged your son's clothes and smelled them. I didn't get any clothes in my box! LOL. I'd like to hug them and smell them, but all I got was an empty backpack, his orders and his cell phone. I suspect he threw them out as he dropped so much weight the last few months they no longer fit well. Obviously, he didn't think about his parents. Ha-ha... Normal I suppose.

My son arrived 3/24 also, got his box Tue. but no letter yet. Maybe today? He is in ship 14, div. 192. Anybody out there have a son in that division?

Hi Gloria! My husband is in that division. We have a topic going here If you want to jump over and join in we'd love to have you. We're trying to find as many people as possible who are in the same division as our boys!!
