So true...I remember around week 9, my son called on a Wednesday...missed the call and thought I was going to have a heart attack. Managed to call him back and found out they had been given extra phone call time. If he had been standing next to me, I would have Gibbs slapped him...lol!
That's funny - love NCIS!
My son is in 15-10 and I did not receive my first phone call until this past Saturday. Sometimes there are long waits to use the phones. There is no guarantee the DI will allow them to call either. He did write me a letter after he had been there two weeks. It is true that "no news is good news." You could make it easy to hear from your LO by sending a fully addressed and stamped envelope along with a fill-in-the-blank and/or multiple choice letter. Something that would be quick and easy to do is good because they will have to skip sleeping in order to find time to write. I hope your LO continues to do well. I used to read the postings from the H-class moms because they have a lot of contact with their LOs. I felt like I could get quite a bit of info from that. It made me feel a little more connected to at least get that secondhand information.
I did receive a call tonight, but not bad news. He needed me to look up his checking account and routing number. When I asked how he was doing, he said "I can't talk about that now this is not a personal call". OK, so we stuck to business and that was it. I was just glad to hear his (hoarse) voice.
I got a very brief email today saying that my LO is still in the class and everything is fine. She was allowed to have email earlier than the rest of the class because her husband is in Iraq and she can't call him. The good news is that he is on the way home!
Congratulations on his upcoming return!
How wonderful for your family! Please thank him for his service!
Send on my thanks to him as well - from the heart! I'll bet your LO is excited he is coming home! In time for commissioning?
Glade to hear ya'll are starting to get a few calls. This coming weekend will more than likely be the first big call weekend. If you do not hear from your LO hold fast you will. Keep those phones close this weekend.I know I did not get a phone call till weekend # 4 one email before that. It all depends on the DI. Soon to be two weeks down for ya'll so their on their way....
Does anyone know when 16-10 will start receiving mail?
15-10 started getting mail during the middle of the first week. It was sporadic at first, but by the second week it was coming pretty regularly!
Thanks! As I was writing a letter this morning, I thought about how many letters you can send in 12 weeks - (or longer...). Came up with over 72 letters at 6 letters a week.........just glad to know that the letters are hopefully being read!
