Hi Man, my son is Ship 4, Div 812...haven't heard anything since the form letter...we really hoping for a call today but no such luck. Just knowing they have one week behind them helps. Kim
Same thing, I just know they keep them very busy all the time. I reallly don't expect a call until next week at the soonest and it will only be a 30 second call. I read this somewhere on a Navy site. I have been on a bunch of sites and get info mixed up but I think I read that. Take care in knowing they are doing good things and they are staying out of trouble.
Hi, is anyones son in Ship 4 Div 811?? thanks,
Brenda
Hi my second son also joined the Navy and arrived at bootcamp on April 1st. He is my oldest son at 22 and has already completed college with a music ed. degree but followed his younger brother, who has been in since Aug. of 2008, in order to become a member of the Navy Band. He wasn't having much luck finding a teaching job in music and his passion lies in music performance anyway and so he tried out and got in. I never even imagined having 2 sons in the Navy and especially not my oldest son whom I've always pictured as a teacher but I am so proud of both of them and I know they have bright futures ahead.
Hi everyone, I have reading about everyone and "The Box". My sons Box came in the mail on Tuesday. Everything but his shoes were included. I wondered if they had run off on their own because of RTC's. Happy I did the same thing you did. I grabbed his clothes and held them to my face and smelled them, and then my heart and hugged them. He is my baby too and when he was lucky enough to earn a phonecall early, I missed it. He called his father, and the message was relayed that he was crying and saying that missed home very, very much. This is the first time that he has ever been away from home. Then I got the letter. I could not believe it was a form letter thanking me for letting him become part of the Navy. The top Dear ______________ and my son put "Mom". At the end of the letter, there was a short note about a little of what he thought, and I have never heard "I Love You" so much from him. I told him always, but most times I never heard it back, but with every phone call and letter, I have gotten "I Love You". Eight weeks is a short time out of the lifetime that we have raised them. We will make it. I am greatful for this site for without it, I would have never had the strength to walk this walk. We are here for each other....Some day it will be our turn to fly....
I got the division wrong in my last post, I had a discussion group going to find someone else that might be associated with Ship 14 and Division 190 not 90. I will be at Graduation on May 21 with the others. I would like to meet someone from this site there if anyone is interested. It would be nice to put a face with words. I want to say Pat, I felt the same way you do, but my son kept telling me that it was not going to be forever. It was not the same because he was not going to be here everyday, but that he still loved me and he was going to make sure that he was going to spend time with his mom. I am sure that she is feeling the same way.
Hi My son is on ship 14 division 190. He is scheduled to graduate on May 21 . I've only received a brief note along with the graduation info. I'm hoping to hear more soon.
How long after your son was accepted did he finally get to go to boot camp?
My son is still filling out paperwork, then does the medical thing, then gets sworn in. Just wondering what the time period is between getting sworn in and going to boot camp?
For my son it was 6 months but that can vary. It seemed like a long time until the last couple months. Then it flew by.
For mine it was 10 months. He was waiting for a HM slot. I think it just depends on how full his rate is as to how long he has to wait.
my son had to wait one year.
hey my little brother is in boot camp lol i made a profile on here lol.
