While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

C school is more indepth training for the chosen job she has. All go to a school but c school specializes in say a mechanic working on a plane, well there is more than one type of plane/jet the Navy flies, so once he is at his command he would probably go to C school to train for a specific plane/jet he is working on. Yes every recruit goes from basic to A school, the only exception being a small time frame right at Christmas where some do get to go home. She will probably not get a break until she has completed A school. So if she hasnt left yet, she should probably work on packing her things before she goes.
For future reference, leave time is earned, they get 30 days per year, earned at 2.50 days per month.

My daughters C school wasnt until she was at her command for 8 months.

As an ET, I went to five or six C schools during my nine years of service. One was directly after A school, others were while I was at my command, others were en route to a new command Some were as short as four weeks, two others were as long as six months, which is a set of orders in itself.
Depending on when the C school begins, they might get their break between A and C schools, but after C school is far more likely. As Hoppi stated, all depends on their rate, the schools and where the Navy needs them to be when they need to be there.

Angie and Anti M , I so appreciate your extensive knowledge, I honestly wish I could just sit and have a face to face chat with both of you, I could learn so much, but this moms is so new, and her daughter hasnt even left for BC yet, if it was me back when I started with N4Ms, I would be completely baffled, maybe thats just me.

It is a little detailed... but she isn't the only one reading this, so it can't hurt to clarify in case others need the info too. I usually start out simple, or let others answer first, then fill in details and experience. I figure everyone can absorb what they need and they can ignore the rest until the right moment rolls around.
I learn a lot here too, the Navy may be much the same in some aspects, but there are huge changes all the time. So great to be here!

My son is a rescue swimmer and he went to C school FIRST, then A school.

So with all the different rates, I am guessing that each C school is different on when they are required to take them. My daughters friend has the same rate as her, yet she stayed in Pensacola to do C school and my daughter had hers 8 months later, ships company vs squadron. I do think many get to come home after A school, no hard set rule on it all.

Kathy is right... my daughter went from BC to A school in Pensacola, FL. Most rates in aviation do A school in Florida. My daughter is attached to a strike fighter group and received her orders in A school. After the completion of A school she was allowed something like 10 day to 2 weeks to get her possessions in order and report to her command. Holly did her C school at NAS Lemoore which is where her squadron is stationed.

My grandson has been in "C' school almost a year now (in the last class now). He will get at least a week at Christmas. He went to Connecticut directly after basic within hours. Got to see him for the first time last month. His wife and the kiddos went up for 2 weeks and I tagged along. Sometime after the new year he will most likely be going to Washington. He will also be doing most if not all of his "F' Schooling in Connecticut--not sure how long that class will last. Not really looking forward to his assignment in Washington as home is on Ohio. My husband and I raised raised him from the time he was a toddler and I have been so proud of him. We communicate a lot through FB chat. But seeing him in person was much better. Once he goes to Washington I may only be able to go out there once a year..We shall see how it goes.
