My son is on Ship 7 Div 202! He left on April 7 and his PIR is June 4. Got the box, form letter, and a letter from him! He isn't thrilled with boot camp (I'm sure that is normal), but he loves the Navy in general! He sounded good.
Hi Rebecca. My son also was quite upbeat in his letter. That was a pleasant surprise. I am anxiously awaiting June 4th... I know 6 weeks can fly by, the anticipation makes it drag !!!. My son's name is Kevin.

HI LADIES! I am glad to know that everonyone received letters! I am so sorry to hear about the some of the issues that your boys have encounted- but I hope that they come out of it OK. I hope that sprain gets better ASAP - and that cold goes away!!! It is a stressful situation to begin with, I hope that nothing else hinders their success at RTC. I haven't logged on in a few days so I had to read A LOT. I love reading about what all of your boys are saying - because I get to know things that my hubby left out of his letter.

I agree Jazzed- 6 weeks left - I hope that it goes by quickly!!! Oh and hello Rebecca!! I'm glad more moms/spouses are finding our lil discussion :-). And I apologize for not formally introducing myself. My name is Sonia - but I go by Elae (pronounced L.A). ;-)
So, have moms made reservations for hotels and airlines yet? I thought I better start with a hotel this weekend! Any suggestions?
Hi Rebecca. I need to get crackin on that too. I am at work now... all my BC/PIR notes are at home. I do know there are suggestions/experiences of hotels on various N4Ms discussions for PIR. I recall there is a Navy Lodge... I need to look into that. One dilemma is... I don't know (nor probably does the Navy) at this point if my son is grad'n'go or if he'll have the weekend free... But, I'll just make a reservation for the weekend & if he's grad'n'go, then I'll have a day or so extra to hit the area antique stores!!!! I may drive to PIR...

My son arrive at GL on April 7 and I still have not gotten any word from him. I am guessing from this website that he would be in Ship 7, Div 202. I do not know where to write to and I have not been able to get anything out of the recruiter? Is there an address for Ship 7, Div 202? I guess no news is good news -- the father in Alaska
Hmm... just try his recruiter again. Otherwise, I can't offer much advice. G'luck!
jonnycatone,

First it is normal not to get any phone calls or mail until they have been at RTC for at least 3weeks. The exceptions to this are the "I made it here safe call," the form letter, and the "kid in a box." They should arrive within a week or so of their arrival at RTC. However I don't know how much additional time it takes to get up to Alaska.

Don't assume your son is on any particular division until you get confirmation from him. There are many division on a ship. What I don't understand is why the recruiter can't give you your son's address. It would seem by this date they should have it, and it should have been in the form letter your son sends shortly after his arrival. The form letter is important because it contains the recruits address, his PIR date, and the password for the PIR parking pass. Once you know your son ship and division you can find the full mailing address and lots of great info at: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/contact_recruit.asp

Even though I am a mom I enjoy visiting the Navy Dads site at: http://www.navydads.com/ These sites are very helpful for us parents and loved ones. And you are a 100% percent right that no news is good news.
I agree with the other mothers - call his recruiter again. My son's recruiter gave me his address and it was correct. I have seen other postings where the address was wrong, but it is a 50-50 chance! Take it and send some letters to your son. That really helped my husband and me while it seemed we waited an eternity for the form letter. You are in Alaska? It just may take longer for the mail to reach you. There is not general address, so you really do need the address from the recruiter. Go into the office if it is close to you!
Hi Everyone my name is Paula and I have a son Joshua in Ship 7 Div 202 . It is nice to see that I am not alone in checking the mailbox and waiting for the phone to ring and hopefully be him. I received a letter but so far no phone call, Josh is a grad and go. Waiting for more info it is a slow process. I live in CA and would enjoy taking to all the moms and wives any and all info is a gift.
HI Paula! Where do you live in California? I am in the SF North Bay.
I live in Lomita, CA South Bay area near Redondo Beach.
