Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Bell,
My son is 17 and completed his MEPS already. He came home so tired, excited and with a signed contract in hand. He said he walked around all day in his boxers with his chart in hand. It was one test after another. He is reporting to boot camp on November 16th and after graduation will go straight to A school in Pensicola FL to be an AO. His recruiter will probably want to meet with you and your son within 72 after that to discuss all the details. I wish you and your son all the best. Please keep me posted when you find out all the details. There are so many groups you can join to help along the way, even one for the month he is assiged for boot camp.

Thanks for your reply. Well like you said, my son came home tired like never before. he was really excited. He will be repoting to boot camp right after Thanksgiving. and after graduationhe will be going to A school in Chicago as a HC ( Hospital Corpsmen). Don't know when graduation is going to be since they haven't given us an expecific day of my son leaving yet.
I am new at this so I need to ask whats an AO? I wish you and your son all the best also. and I will keep you posted. Its nice to be able to write to a mother that is going thru the same so we can relate. Thanks.

Hi Bell
Glad to hear that he has a rate. HC sounds great. An AO is Aviaition Ordanence (aircraft weapons specialist). His training in A school will be in Pensicola. I'm very new at this as well but learned a lot just by visiting this website. I set up a November 2010 Boot Camp group. You should join it so that we can communicate and share any info. Hopefully more mothers for November will attend. Let me know when you have a date.
From what I understand, A school in Chicago means that you might have extra quality time with him after graduation. I, on the otherhand believe that he will leave several hours after graduation to catch a flight to Fla.

talk to your recruiter about starting to attend DEP meetings (delayed entry program). which will really help him get a head start on things he will need to learn in bootcamp! and just live life up while u can. TIME FLYSS. i joined last september and leave in july and i seems to me like i joined last week,

As a matter fo fact we had the 72 hour meeting with his recruiter and my son starting going to the base for training every other Thursday and is required to call every Monday morning. He is loving it!!! They asked that he learn the navy creed and other information related to navy history. Also he was told to start training. Running, sit ups and push ups to help prior to BC. Much luck to you depper. Wishing you all the best. Keep me posted when you can and enjoy your future with the Navy!

Good morning,
my son has to call every Monday and he has PT every Mondays and Wednesdays. And every other Saturday they have meeting to talk about whats next. My son is very excited he cant wait to go to BC.!

My son will be going into bc around the same time!! He leaves the first week of Dec and is going to be in Chicago as a HC also!! It will be here before we know it!! I just wonder the chances of them calling him early??? Have a great day! Tammy from California

My son was a depper all last year. He was called six months early because another depper in our area scheduled for the same job as his had backed out. He decided not to go early...so he's there now. What chance that gives him....you just don't know!
