My son hasn't left yet. So, how are YOU doing?
Hello! My wife and I also have a daughter in Division 231, Ship 3. She left for RTC on May 11th.

Because of the July 4th holiday weekend their PIR will be July 1st , 2010 (Thursday). The RTC Website has been updated to reflect the correct date of July 1st. Can't wait to see her! She is our only child and we really miss her!

We received a surprise call from her yesterday! They had her call us because they needed some paperwork for her clearence. She sounded really good. She said their first mail call will be this Sunday so they will have over a weeks worth of mail to read! So far so good!
Hello! My husband left for RTC on May 10th and he is in Divison 231, Ship 3. I haven't heard from him yet, but I am a little stressed out because I heard graduation is July 1st. Is this true? I was counting on 9 weeks, because I was told that they had a week of processing. Is it confirmed that graduation is on Thursday July 1st? I am graduating with my Ph.D on July 1st, so I wouldn't be able to make it, if he is graduating the same day. Thanks,
The RTC website lists graduation as July 1st for Division 231. http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp

We recived the form letter in the mail this week and July 2nd is written in? Hopefully the confusion will get cleared up soon! We had thought that she would graduate on July 9th (9 weeks) also but was surprised to find out it will be a week and 1 day early. I'm pretty sure it will be Thursday since Friday is a Government Holiday (three day weekend) for the 4th of July. Hopefully your husband will get to spend the weekend with you before going to A school!
Our daughter just called tonight to confirm graduation is July 1st! She sounded good!
My daughter left May 17th and we just got her address letter nd PIR date of July 9...it was so great to see her handwritten note; miss her so much I ache. But was so sweet to say "I don't regret my decision one bit; I'm glad I'm here. :)" with a little hand drawn happy face. She knew we would be worried about that. We are so proud of her as I'm sure all of you are. Be proud of the children we raised who would make this decision!
My son left May 27th. Just got his box last night. Can't wait until we get the letter to let us know his graduation date and address so we can start writing. How long we get that?
Our letter came the next day after receiving the box. My DIL got it out of the mailbox, called me and I dashed to the post office with about 5 letters and carried 5 more the next day.

We started writing the day he left and had a stash built up! Of course he didn't receive any mail for about 10 days after that but was thrilled when he got a big stack at his first mail call.
Proud Mommas (and wives)... all so proud of you!! My son left June 10th! I received a letter from SR Mattea (in Ship 12 Div 264) and ripped it open so excited! I haven't talked with him yet though! Now that we have his Graduation date I will be desparetly trying to save the money to fly out to see him! Any ideas or clues we I could get assistance?
