For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I am with you there about the SEAL training. I do wish him well because he has wanted to do this since 8th grade and he will be 22 tomorrow, but it is scary stuff for a mom. I am just taking it a day at a time and just waiting for July 23rd when he will graduate from bc.

I love writing to him but I think my husband is bothered by how much time I spend talking to all of you and also to my son in writing.
He hasn't said so but I feel it.
I have written everyday including after we got the PHONE CALL.

LOL.....my husband is very glad I have this site too! He is stepfather to my son x 17 years....and they are close, though. I have learned a lot via this site and U Tube videos. Lots of information. I still have occasional "melt downs," but all in all, I am doing better.

My Son left from Jacksonville, FL. We live in GA and his wife and baby girl are staying with us until he is through Bootcamp and School. My son has signed up to AD. He also got to GL very late on June 1st. we got the "I'm here and safe" call at about 11 pm that night. Even though he is married with a child, we have never gone more than 2 days without talking. It has been a hard adjustment. I don't breakdown too much because I am trying to keep his wife upbeat. I miss him so much and think about what he is doing everyday.

My son left here on June 1st and took the oath at the White Sox game on June 2nd. I was unable to go, so it was a comfort to find some photos of him on here. Thank you to the mom's that shared them. He is the oldest of my four children and honestly I didn't expect this to be so hard. I also have written a couple letters already and am just waiting on the form letter to know where to send them.

Today has been really bad for me My son arrived at boot camp on June 3. My chest feels like it has a weight sitting on it and my heart rate feels really fast. I don't know how to get through it. I am trying but my body has a mind of its own.

It gets better. My son got there on the second, and called that night. I cried a lot the first two or three days, but got busy with other things, and now I just cry when I tell someone he left. Getting some rest helps. Just keep writing to him, and remember that you will start getting letters and phone calls in a few weeks. Like I said, I'm a teacher, and I realized it is only one quarter, and those go very fast. The first week will be over in two days, so we only have eight to go!

Nights are bad for me also but I find 3:00 tough. I just want to go sleep until he is back.
I write to him as if I am talking Example: I'll talk to you later I am going to take your little sweetie pie (his wife of 1 month tomorrow) to dinner. My next line would be: I'm back did I miss anything. Dinner was good we didn't cry once.

I think keeping busy is helpful. I know what you mean about seeing the car in the driveway, billysmom. My son arrived at bc late on June 1st. He ordered a car cover and put in on the car on Memorial Day, the day he left. I wished that I could have put that car somewhere else because as soon as I drive in the driveway, I see it. I don't know if this will help you or not, but I decided when I see the car to say a little prayer for him or send a positive thought. This has really helped me. I also go in his room every morning and every night and say a little prayer or message to him to have a good day or I hope he is safe. This might sound a bit odd, but its been helping and I haven't been crying since I started doing that. I also have been writing letters. I just got his address in the form letter and the box yesterday. I drove right down to the post office last night (in my nightgown) and dropped letters in the mail. Just picture that, it might give you a chuckle! Anyway we are all in this together.

I have been writing to my son everyday also. It will be one long letter. It's like a journal, but I tell him all that is going on at home and in the area. I miss him.

Ha.....I am writing a journal too! His girlfriend, who is 4 weeks ahead of him at bootcamp, is being written as well....but, hers are in the mail. I am starting to get excited about looking for things to come...."the" box and form letter. I have been watching boot camp videos via U Tube. I watched interviews there too. Checked 'em out yet? I have learned a lot!
