SO happy for you to get a letter, I did not get one today :-( I read they hold their mail from them for the first several weeks as well and that it takes some time to catch up to them in their div sometimes, so I'm sure that is what has happened, he will get them don't worry, when he finally does he will get so many at once it will make up for the wait. Maybe I will get one tomorrow. Did he mention anything about the div and how they are doing as a whole, what they have done, what they have coming up? Any details you want to share? Sorry for 100 questions, I'm just soo anxious, for 20 years I knew everyday where or what my son was doing and this 3 weeks of unknown is litterally Driving me Crazy!!!
He didn't mention the division as a whole, except that he doesn't enjoy the group showers lol.....He said that the PT is harder than he expected which coming from my husband must mean that it is really extreme because he is in very good shape and was a personal trainer before joining the navy. He said that they are getting a lot of shots and the food is awesome. They just went through their first Physical Fitness Assessment and swim test. The MOST important thing he told me in the letter is that he gets to call me on June 9th so have my phone by me all day...I assume the whole division will get to phone home as well!
I hope you get your letter tomorrow! Hopefully you will have even more news to share...
My vibe from the letter is that the first couple weeks were really hard but that its getting better,
Hope this helps
Yes that does help, Thanks. I'm sure the showers are a little weird for my son also. The shots is one of the things I've been worried about most with my son, he hates needles and used to faint on me as a kid when he got shots. He said before he left if he makes it thru the shots he will be be so stoked that he'll be able to take anything they got for him... I'm sure I would have gotten a call by now if he fainted on them...LOL! At least I know now they got to write so hopefully tomorrow will be my letter day. I will let you know as soon as I get one from him.
I will certainly be looking forward to the 9th now, most of my work clothes don't have pockets so I look pretty stupid carrying my phone all over the office with me, especially to the bathroom, but I don't care.
Such a relief to get my letter today, sounds like he is doing well. He talked alot about the shots as I mentioned earlier that was his biggest concern since he has issues with needles, but he made it thru all the shots and blood draws without any major issues. He did say in week 3 (which should have been this past week) they were going to cut out all 4 of his wisdom teeth which he was not too happy about either but we knew going in that it would probably happen. He got there on the 13th and said they were only a half of a division so they had to wait a couple of days for others to get there before they could get started. Oh and apparently in the 10 months between MEPS and shipping to BC he is now a little near sighted in his right eye so they are making him wear glasses! He has never had glasses so we can't wait to goof on him for that...LOL We are going to shop this weekend for the biggest ugliest glasses we can find and take pics of ourselves doing different things and send them to him in our letters to make him laugh.

He said he passed his swim qual first time and also passed the first PFA which we knew were not going to be an issue for him at all. He did mention that 41 out of the 77ish failed the first PFA. I was shocked to hear that big of a number not passing. He said they have been getting alot of IT "intense training" which is punishment for not listening or talking. He said he would give us more details on that when he calls. Tiffani just like your husband my son is also very fit but he said they sweat soo much in IT that their shirts are litteraly dripping and my son does not usually sweat like that so it must be just crazy! He said a few have even gotten hurt due to the floor being so wet from sweat that they slip out on exercises.

He told me to look up what B.A.S.E.S. are as he said that is what they did on the 28th. He said his job is the Trash PO which I thought is kind of funny as the trash was always his chore living at home. He said its not a very high job but he likes it.

Thats about it, have a great weekend everyone!
I AM GLAD YOU FINALLY GOT A LETTER ALSO. I KNOW I FEEL MUCH BETTER KNOWING MY SON JUSTIN IS DOING BETTER THAN WHEN I GOT THE NAVY FORM. HOPE WE GET PHONE CALLS SOON. I SIGNED IN TO JOIN PIR HOPEFULLY I DID IT CORRECT. DIV.237 SHIP 3
Yeah you got your letter! I didn't know that over half failed the first PFA, thats a lot!!! My husband mentioned IT in his letter too and said it was "extreme"... Hopefully we will all start getting letters regularly now.
What an awesome weekend this turned out to be, letters on Friday and Phone calls today. We got to talk to Brad for like 40 minutes today, he mostly talked about everything that he already said in his letter but it was soo nice hearing his voice. He said they have their first academic test on Monday. Oh and he said he is not grad and go so we are pretty excited now that it looks like we will get more than a couple of hours with him at graduation. Talk to you all soon
HELLO, I GOT A PHONE CALL TODAY ALSO, I WAS SO SUPRISED I WAS WAITING UNTIL THE 9TH LIKE EVERYONE WAS SAYING. SO HAPPY TO HEAR HIS VOICE. THANKS FOR SHARING
Hey guys... I have a son on Ship 3 Div 237... well I have two sons in Ship 3... one is in 229 and the other is in 237... Da (237) had gotten to call me twice and I did get one letter from him... I sure do miss them and yes having a hard time with both of them being up there... Dy (div 229) is going to PIR on July 1st so my husband and I are going to just stay up there until 237 has their PIR...
Cant wait to see them and getting to know you all
Lisa
Welcome aboard Lisa, we look forward to getting to know you as well over the next 4 1/2 weeks. Its really nice to compare the info we get from from each of our SR. Where are you staying at for both your graduations?
Do not have a clue yet... somewhere it will not cost us so much since we will be there at least 14days
I know I really do feel alone... no one in my family nor my husband was in the military (well back in WW11) so we are totally in the blind here!
Hi
I got a letter and a phone call on Sunday. My son's name is Corey. I missed his called but he got a hold of his stepdad and was able to talk to him for awhile. He sounded pretty good according to my husband. He share a few things about the amount of time and things that had to do. I miss him but I keep telling myself he is on a life time journey. I am so proud and I can't wait till graduation July 10th! I wondered how he looks with a shaved head! Happy to be a part of this group and looking forward to reading more tidbits from you all.
