My son, Austin, has just recently deployed--May 21st on the SS Truman.  What are the easiest ways for him to stay in contact with me?  He is NOT aggressive in questioning things; so I'm not expecting any contact soon.  If anyone can give me some input, I would appreciate it.  Thanks Chery Santa

Judy: THANKS SO MUCH for your quick response!!! This information really helps me! It has been almost 3 weeks; so MAYBE I will hear from him soon. I'm so thankful I found this site so I can communicate with other Navy moms. Most of my local military mom support group have sons in other branches and seem to think we don't need to stress as much. I understand that in one way but still.................!! Again thanks so much for the information. Hope we can talk again some time. Cheryl
Chery - It looks like you are new on N4M. Welcome!! There are two groups - USS Truman and Truman wives. You may want to join them, or at least look at the sites. You may be able to see what is going on. Also, the ship should have an ombudsman. Hope this helps a little.
Thanks so much for your response. I will join at least one. Cheryl
Knowing Austin, he probably didn't put names on the list. He's not very proactive concerning things like that. Excellent on his job; but not good at communicating with family. :) Thanks, Cheryl
Hi, Cheryl. Welcome to N4M! Yes, I agree with Gulf Coast that you should definitely check into the USS Truman group as they are posting pix and giving pretty good updates. Right now, they are in France for a joint air show to celebrate France's (100th?) air force anniversary. Some are getting liberty, so I hope you get to hear from him.

By the way, what does your son do? HST is like a floating city, so I don't know if our sons' paths have crossed. My son is with CVW 3.
Hi! Thanks for your input! Austin is a parachute rigger. What is CVW 3? Since I'm so new to this (with Austin being on ship) I know nothing. Austin has been in the Navy 4 years; but has always had shore duty. All of you can really educate me!! Do you mean to get on the USS Truman group at this site or otherwise? I need specific guidance. I'm not too swift on the internet anyway. I did look at the USS Truman site itself; but if that was where I was supposed to go I didn't see a whole lot (this has been about 5 days ago). Thanks again and have a blessed day!
