I have asked him and all I get is that she can't tell us anything more than he does. He has not been on a long deployment yet, so I guess there is nothing for her to say. But, I read all of the notes from other Mom's, wives, etc about the Ombudsman. I am in OK so I am a long way from HI and don't have anyone to contact but my son. I would just like to know a name in case I need to talk to her.

Hi Rhonda have you gone to the group " What's an Ombudsman and how to contact them " You may find some info with that group. Also what ship or sub is he on I may be able to get you some info also. This pass Monday a Petty Officer of my son's sub called us to let us know that things with my son was going good. He said that when it was time for his deployment someone from his sub or the ombudsman would be incontact with us. First you have to find out if your son gave them your contact info. I hope this helps. :)
Rhonda, you can find the ombudsman for your son's ship by going to the ships' website. On the webiste you should be able to find the ombudsman name and email listed. Or you can go to ombudsmanregistry.org to locate the ombudsman.
Thank you Gloria. I could not get a straight answer out of my son. I assume he did give them our name and information since he is single. He is on the USS Olympia.

I did read the group/post about "What's an Ombudsman" and I asked my son like it said. I think he believes I want more information than he is allowed to give me.

I am just one of those people who likes to be prepared and know things in advance; which I know will not always happen with his comings and goings. He has been able to contact us so far before he leaves, and I appreciate that.

I really appreciate your help. Have a great weekend.
Thank you Pat. I will try those options also.
Rhonda, if all else fails, let me know and I'll have my Ombudsman find out the information for you. They have training to keep them up to date on their jobs either quarterly or monthly, so I am sure they all at least know how to get in touch with each other. :)
Thank you Marla. I will let you know if I still have problems finding her.
What boat is he on? I can relate, I never even knew an ombudsman existed until I met her haha
He is on the Olympia.
Generally, the Ombudsman can pass more specific information than individual sailors can. Usually, they will get information straight from the CMC/COB to send out on their distro lists. If you aren't getting a newsletter quarterly or getting at least some sort of emails from the command you need to be added by the ombudsman.
I am not sure why sailors don't want to have their family in the loop, but it is actually pretty common.
Thank you Sonar Chief. I have been on my son for over a year to put me on the list, but he just kept saying she can't tell you anymore than I can. I don't even know who it is! I have looked on the sub's website and it does not say.

I have not received any letters or emails from anyone except my son. I am afraid I will not have any info when he is on deployment soon. He said he will put me on the list, but I am not holding my breath.

I think my son has not done before because he is single and just doesn't want me in his "business"!!!

I really want to know so I can send a half way box to him and be kept in the loop also.
Rhonda, you can locate the ombudsman on the registry site. www.ombudsmanregistry.org
Pat, there is no one listed for Kerry's boat. I tried that a while back also. He says he will add me before he goes on deployment; all I can do is pray he does.
