My son is signed up and ready tog but his ship date is not until March 15th. I am already feeling anxious about him leaving. And I am trying to get used tothe idea that he will not be living near me for at least the next 5 years, maybe longer. That is the hard part. I know it is for the best. And I know he wants this more than anything so I am so happy for him and so proud of him.

I hope to make friends on here who understand what I am feeling. Unless you have been there and done that it is hard for anyone to understand. So if anyone is from around Martin county or just anyone at all Iwould love to communicate.

Thanks for the inspiration, my son also left college after two years and is now waiting to leave for bootcamp.
I am going to make sure he reads this so he can see what an incredible journey he can have. Continued Good Luck to your son and Thanks for his service.
Thank you for this. I have also let my son read this so he can see even more oppurtunites and know that there is no limit to what he can do. He is going in as a Hospital Corpsman. So I am hoping he continues his education and moves forward
Feeling the same way and have been feeling this way since he started talking about joining. It comes to me in waves; I cry and then get over it, then something happens and I cry again. I found the busier I am the better off I am. He is happy and even got his leave date moved up per his request to August. I have two more sons at home but I will miss him so much! I am a Navy brat so I kind of know what he is getting into but it does not make it any easier. His recruiter suggested this site for me and this is my first posting.
Well wecome to this site. It has been a wealth of information for me as well as comforting. And I do feel the same way you do. I am trying to spend as much time as possible with him and taking lots of pictures as well. And I keep telling myself that i cant wait until I can go see the graduation. Hang in there, and please contact me if you just want to vent, or cry or scream or whatever. I am learning that we all have to stick together, becasue parents that are not experiancing what we are can't fully understand. It is not like they are going off to college and have pretty free schedules. So I am here for you
My son also leaves in March, it seems so far away but I am sure it will be here in a blink. There is such great information on this website. There are a lot of things I would never think of on my own. I know how you feel about being so proud but if possible missing him while he is still home.
When in March does your son leave? Matt is scheduled for March 15th. But he got a call last week from his recruiter and they asked him if he would want to leave at the end of this month!!. He said yes. But nothing has come of that yet. So now he says he is on the list to be able to leave at any time.
My son's date is March 21...what is your sons rate?
March 15th. What job is he going in with?
He will be an OS-Operations Specialists. How about your son? I sent you a friend request and there is also a group under New Moms where you can join "Leaving for BootCamp in March". Everyone else had March 2010, we are the first I have seen in March2011.
A detailed welcoming message with numerous links has been left on your page (Click MY PAGE). Join as many groups as you like - you will meet many who are in the boat!
Hello - my son is scheduled to leave March 16th - just like everyone else I'm very proud of him but also anxious, sad, scared, missing him already and somedays even a basketcase LOL

This is my first post and was told about his site by his recruiter - I am learning a lot on this site and seem to learn something new everytime I log on.

Any other Michigan Mom's?
Welcome sandman. My son is leaving March 30, 2011. So, we have a while to wait, we can wait together! : )

Look around this site, it has given me a lot of information in the past few days since I joined.
