What happens to a Salior who gets a DUI on base and the Salior with him is also drunk and under age?

He'll go to Captain's Mast, which is military punishment. He can be placed on restriction, reduction in rate, fined... the levels of punishment vary. If he supplied the alcohol to the underage drinker, it will be very serious. If he's in A school, he could lose that, if he has a security clearance, that could be gone too. My nephew's friend was caught underage drinking in nuke school and was discharged.

Yeah, it is bad news. The Navy doesn't fool around with drinking infractions.
Thanks. But he didn't supply him with the beer, the guy already had it in his room. Does the still get discharged?
The discharge is not automatic, just one possibility.
He will also automatically lose base driving privileges for a given period of time after he has completed the alcohol abuse treatment program and the driving safety program.

For the discharge portion it generally come from a second ARI (Alcohol Related Incident) which is a treatment failure and requires a waiver endorsed by the Commanding Officer to retain for continued Naval service. It can also come from a failure to meet treatment requirements. This includes missing mandatory AA meetings, continuing to drink while in an ordered no alcohol status (restriction, at in patient treatment facility, Letter of Instruction) or refusing recommended treatment.
My son is going through the 45 days punish, loss of rank and extra duty. Tomorrow he goes back to the board and sees what happens to him. He is in the fleet. The guy that was under age was in another squad and he was deployed. I do not understand why the under age guy gets off free?
that is true. There is another sailor that has to go before the board tomorrow that is in my sons squad and he did the same thing a year ago. Why is he going through this when it has been a year? I'm sure the boy has been through this before why again?
He must have made another mistake. Too hard to tell without knowing the actual situation.
Thank you! I am sure i am not getting the whole story from my son. It is hard being a mom as ya'll know and not being able to fix things. Again thank you for being here.
Edna,
With young adults and many older adults mistakes are made. You must not dwell in the past but move forward. In other words learn by your mistakes. Hardest thing as a parent not being able to fix things....I am a mother of three young adults, with one son going in to the Sea Bee's.
kbondy
thanks
Hard as it is, you'll have to step back and let him deal with it. He made the mistake, he has to pay for it. This should be a good learning experience for him.
I do believe it is a good learning experience. Andt I am thankful it happened there and not outside the base. If he had done this at home he probably would not had it so hard so i quess all in all this was the best thing that could have happened.thanks
