Hi There....this is very new to me....Our son leave for bootcamp July 13th, 2010....Out of Sacramento MEPS. YES..We are all very emotional... Were will your child be leaving from?
Kim
Hello Kim,
Our son is getting picked up Monday July 12th by 9 A.M. and heading to MEPS, then on July 13th he will be walking into Great Lakes. We live in Wisconsin. So for us Great Lakes is about a 6 hour drive. But may as well be a million miles away. The emotions are running higher everyday and the anticipation is unbearable. It is going to be a tough 9 weeks. My girlfriend had a son that graduated in April and has been a God send helping us thru this process. Best of luck to your son. Keep in touch..
I so feel your unbearable anticipation.....My husband and I will be driving our son Thomas to the Sacramento MEPS on Monday. Sacramento is 1 hour away from us. On Tuesday morning, which is my 20th wedding anniversary.....ug.... we will return to Sacramento with family to witness Thomas being sworn in. We too have have walked this journey with our close friends son whom enlisted on Feb 4th. He now is in Pensacola Fl in "A" school.

Our son has signed up as IT and will go to Pensacola after bootcamp. What about your son?

It will be a tough 9 weeks. It has been very hard for me to be so strong for him and shed tears when noone is looking. We are having a going away party for him tomorrow, which will be tough, however not as tough as Tuesday will be!

Best of luck to your son as well. Please keep in touch. My thoughts and prayer are with you.

Kim

I know
My son is also going to be going to Pensacola, Fl for A school.. He is going to be in Aviation Support Equiptment Tech.
I totally understand the shedding tears when no one is looking. As the days get closer it seems to get harder, but I do not want him to see me crying. I feel he will have enough to deal with, without having to worry if I am ok. I know we will all get through this. But as my friend told me, I know he is ok, but the pain in the heart tells us otherwise. Be strong and keep in touch.
Best wishes to all..
My son is also entering Great Lakes on July 13th. It is a very emotional time he is my only child so that makes it even harder but I know this is the best opportunity for my son. I
I feel your aching heart, for Thomas is our youngest and we will have empty home.

When my some first "signed" up for the Navy last August, I was caught very off guard, for it was not the path I wanted him to go down at that time. As I have walked the path with him this past year and learned more about the Navy, I am truely proud of his decision of joining.

Where are you and your son from? My thoughts and prayers are with you and your son as well. It will be a very emotional next couple of days.....and a long 9 weeks... please keep in touch.

Kim
Our son is also the youngest. So we all seem to be in the same "boat".. The house is going to be very quiet and empty. But the pride we feel for him is indescribeable. Best of luck to both of your sons..

My son leaves for MEPS in San Diego tomorrow and flies to Illinois on the 14th. I am so incredibly proud of him and excited for him but sad for me...
