hey Karen- We haven't received anything about Chris' ship or division yet. It has been a long couple of days. How is your daughter doing?
My son left today (July 20th). Never had a feeling like this. Proud and sad at the same time :( Anxiously waiting for his first phone call.
Karen, Hope you are doing okay. I know the feeling . Chris goes to MEPS tomorrow and then to bc on Thursday. I am sure he and Joe will probably have same PIR date. Let me know that Joe made it ok. I know I will be anxiously awaiting that phone call from Chris as well. Take care.
Bobbie, Thought I was doing okay this morning. Actually put mascara on to go to work! Then I started reading my Navy Moms... Mascara was a bad idea :) Joe called at 11:45 last night. He called collect. I could tell he was reading what he was supposed to say. It was different... thought I was prepared for that. I had read on a Navy Moms letter about that exact thing. I wonder if someone was standing there watching him. He told me he would call in 3 weeks. That surprised me. I thought maybe in a week. We'll have to wait and see. Thanks for you sweet thoughts. Karen
Karen,
My son leaves on the 22nd. I feel the same way as you. Trying to stay busy getting last minute things done. If I stop for too long the tears start. Hope you get your call soon!
Take care,
Shawn
Shawn, As I noted above to Bobbie, I did get the call close to midnight last night. Something else hard was when he handed me his bag of stuff that he decided not to take with him. He just put his wallet and checkbook in his pockets. Taking the stuff out of the car to bring back in the house was hard. I could smell him on his sweatshirt... Can't go in his room yet either... Take care, Karen
This is the other Karen. I see your son in a football jersey. My boy was a Wasilla Warrior. What team did your son play on?
My son left today for illinois. so he should be in the same group i think. It was harder than I thought it was going to be. I had almost a year to prepare but, nothing prepares you. After bootcamp he will go to south carolina or new york for the nuclear engineering program and after graduation wont see him tell christmas he tells me. i would love to be able to talk with other moms about this because the people i work with dont understand why i cry. take care ginger
momofthree...I left a comment for you on your page

Hi Ginger, My son leaves tomorrow. We took him back to the hotel just a little while ago. Starting to miss him already even though I know we will see him tomorrow. I will send you a friend request and feel free to send me a message anytime. I know how you are feeling. I have lots of family in South carolina so he might enjoy that if he enjoys hot weather and humidity (lol). Take care.
Ginger, My son Joe will also be going to South Carolina or New York for the nuclear program. I will be grateful to see him at Chrismas. Joe said that he wasn't sure when the terms started for school, so when he finishes bootcamp, he will do whatever they assign him until the term starts. We are assuming that there will be a Christmas break. I hope so!! I know what you mean about work. I've had some people totally understand and others question whether I was glad to see him go or feeling sad... wow... take care Ginger.
Karen
