I understand that graduates from boot camp only have four seats for family and/or guests at PIR.  My question is... what are the odds that there will be avaliable seats for the other members of the family? My son has 4 parents, a brother, a fiance, and grandparents that ALL want to attend.  I don't want anyone to be left out, but would hate to have them travel from Pittsburgh to Great Lakes only to find out they cannot be there to see him.

Yes only 4 can be on the list BUT is they are age 12 or below they don't count towards the list. Also, not all rcts have family to come to PIR SO once everyone on the list is seated then everyone left over can go in.

When is your PIR?? Do you know yet? Some of the PIR groups have been small, the one for 9/2 is huge with 14 divisions...this will affect extra seats
My son just started his second week of boot camp. Yesterday was his first day after processing. His fiance and I have been navyformoms every night since he left. I really wish I would have logged on before he left. Soooo much info!! It is still so early that we don't have an address for him yet. Do you have any idea how I can find out his PIR date? I'm guessing I need to know his division info first. But, once I know that, where do I go for the PIR info?
Call his recruiter...sometimes they will give youi his ship/division and ADDRESS (so you can start writing him) from the division # we can figure out his PIR date.
Billy, hen your son sends your the letter with his address, the tentative PIR date is on there. Good luck and I hope you hear from him soon. The time really does go fast.
my children 13 and 14 do no have school id's at least none that aren't a couple years old...shouldn i take them to get state issued id's?
So if he left last week...most likely his PIR date will be 9/10...depends on how long he's in processing (p-days) It may be 9/17...just need to call recruiter. The form letter will be coming soon. Have you gotten the "kid in a box" yet?
I was on here before my son left BUT not on the right sites. So much I didn't know. Knowledge is power!!
I agree about the knowledge is power!!! I really don't think his recruiter gave him enough info before he left. He left without a phone card, address book, or any of the little things that he could have taken. I have spoken to him 3 days in a row now because he didn't have addresses and phone numbers of former employees or his high school address and phone number. They needed his registration number from when he registered with the selective service!!! This seems like things his recruiter should have told him to have ready!! He also didn't memorize any of the things he should have had memorized!!! When I talked to him yesterday he said his 8 weeks started yesterday. So I figured out that his PIR date should be 9/17. Does that sound about right?
Yep...that sounds right but wait till you get the form letter before making any plans.

Boy his recruiter really dropped the ball and your poor son has to pay for it. Do you have any questions??
My internet is sketchy so I might be off for periods of time I'll get back to you ASAP if that happens.
The only question I can think of right now is... how do I change my user name? I just now read your suggestions about what you shouldn't use for user names!! Need to make a change!! LOL
Go to the upper right hand corner of your screen...see the "settings" click on it. It will take you to another screen. Thee is where you change you profile name.
