Husband leaves in 12 days and i dont know where to ask, but i need info and help....

if anyone can point me to the right group or help me answer my questions i would be so ever grateful!

i can't believe it's almost time to see him off but im happy to say i will miss him but ready to keep myself busy during these times. i was talking to my husband about maybe i should get a part time job, but he doesn't want me to worry about money while im in school, i got 2 years left and im a full-time student and he has been the only one working.

i usually pay the bills but as a lot of people we have basically no money after the bills are paid and food is bought. i talked to him about maybe i should get a part-time job while he is at bootcamp at least for 2 months until his pay comes in. he was told that right when he enters his pay and housing money starts but it wont be released until payday which is the 1st or 15th? so he says not to worry. really i heard horror stories and i dont think i can take it if i have bills coming and i cant pay for them. i;ve been through it and i know for a fact i can't take it.

basically i need somewhere to ask about pay and when will i might get it and i heard that if you use your account back home and not the military one which you sign up in if you want when u get there it directs deposits a lot slower. but my problem thinking is that if he does sign up for the navy bank they will offer him, how am i supposed to access it?

i understand and fully believe that the military takes care of it's own and their families but i dont believe it will happen after a month or 2 maybe 5 months. this is just what i heard and i thought i would try to find out, i need someone whos been through it. where can i ask?

Deposits to regular accounts don't take any longer. Navy Fed is NOT a military credit union, easier once you start moving around though. His first pay check will be smaller as he has to purchase basic necessities, and taxes come out. The BAH (housing allowance) takes about six to eight weeks to kick in, but you will get back pay. Paydays are the 1st and 15th, but he has to be processed in, so about three to four weeks, about half way through. His second payday will be better.

You will need a few weeks worth of money until his pay settles to a routine. Actually, a part time job would be an excellent way to fill your time. If it means less stress for you, do it. Can't hurt?

thanks for the information, he asked me where i wanted the money and i said our home account but when i heard that it would take longer i panicked! i was planning on taking a PT job at school so i dont have to really travel anywhere else except home after, i hope it wont hurt my schooling, but im more afraid of bills building up.
