For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

navymomtoo - you can go to the groups tab and search PIR 8/27/10 and join that group. All the moms/wives/families will be in the same position as you as far as boot camp goes. They can write every Sunday and it could be that the only other call you will get will be when your recruit passes Battle Stations. The only time you will hear about passing tests is if he fails and is pushed back in his training. So, No News Is Good News.
My son waited 11 months as a Depper before he went to bootcamp. Worked in a factory until time to go (after he left college and moved back home for that year).

DONT FORGET YOUR IDS! YOU HAVE TO HAVE THEM TO GET INTO THE CEREMONY!!
That was my big advice. Other then that, its a good idea to get a GPS and a rental car. There isn't much to do where the actual base is, you are going to have to travel at least 30 minutes to go anywhere exciting. On PIR day, get up early and get to the base at 7am. That is when gate open and that is when you want to be there. By the time you get to the building it is going to be packed with people. Only the people who are on his guest list are allowed to attend the ceremony. If he wears glasses, bring his old pair and or contacts because the glasses they issue are not very attractive. He has to be in uniform the entire weekend. Also, there is a lot of new rules that he wont be used to so help him remember. He cannot walk and talk on the phone in uniform. He cannot chew gum, eat or drink while walking. He cannot drive AT ALL. No drinking. If the weather is cold he will have a coat and gloves, he will have to take them off indoors along with his hat that he will always wear outside. So when he goes in out outside remember to stop with him and give him time to get situated. Also, unless he really wants to, I would suggest not going to see movies. They have had so little social communication and free time that he is most likely going to want to be out doing somethin and engaging in activities. We went to the movies and ended up leaving half way through because he just wanted to talk and be outside. These are just things I remember going through at PIR weekend. Most of all, just have fun with him, try not to stick to a set schedual and just let things flow so he isnt stressing out. SMILE AND LOVE HAVING YOUR SON WITH YOU!!! I hope you all enjoy every minute of it!! :)

We went to the movies with our son and 5 of his buddies. They all slept through the movie! As soon as the lights went out so did they.

LOL! That is so funny! I am also anticipating watching my son sleep. He loves to sleep and to hear him get up so early in boot camp just amazes us!

Great notes, I jotted them down. My son graduates September 17th and we did receive his form letter. Will we be getting out ID's prior? I know I need to go to the website and download the parking pass, but I didn't see anything about ID's...

anyone over 12 or 13 need a picture id. Drivers license is fine. For those who don't have a drivers license...the DMV will issue a photo ID. Will need birth certificate for 12 and under

LOL! Don't feel like a doof! There's so much going on and to remember our brains get overloaded! Anyway, I think we should get special ID's because we are mothers of a child in boot camp and we're all on an emotional rollercoaster!
