Hi ladies! I too have been rushing to the mailbox daily, but no letter yet! I am so bummed, and my 4 year-old daughter has cried twice during this week, missing her brother. The phone rang twice tonight and no one was there, this is really driving me crazy!
Wendy, I hope this will be your lucky day. From my sons short notes, it sounded like the days are long, but the weeks are passing quickly because they are so busy. My ex-husband also got a letter (really a note, short and to the point), He is in another city, but also in Texas. My son said they are learning alot. Sounded really upbeat, I can read between the lines with this boy, and I really didn't get the feeling that he was sugar coating anything. He said they will be writing again this coming Sunday. This past Sunday must have been the first time they got to write. It also sounds like writing is a privelege and they have to get all of their other duties done first. I hope our division earns priveleges to call this weekend, but like everything else, they have to earn it. I am looking forward to it, but not expecting it, so hopefully I wont be dissapointed. Good Luck and try not to bite the mailman ; )
I also got mail today. Happy to finally hear from both boys in ship13div326. Thanks to their mother for starting this group (bonniern). Getting ready to purchase flights and boarding. Arriving on the 30th and leaving o nthe 3rd. Let's plan on a group meet and greet Sept. 30th. I'll post photos for those that can't make it to the graduation...
GOT 2 LETTERS TODAY!!YEAH!!!!
He's homesick, and mad at himself, was 2nd in command, dropped to 3rd, now no command-cant seem to pass the swim test.HELP! Do anyone know how this will effect him graduating? What exactly is the test? (He was never a good swimmer). Any advice would be appreciated.
Finally got a letter today! He says it's hard, but he is pushing through. And admitted he is understanding some of those things his parents were trying to teach him. "Thanks mom and dad it makes sense now". I just had to smile. He is happy to have made some good friends, and seems to be doing pretty well.

Swim test??? hmmm I don't know, my son did not mention a swim test. Surely they must have some type of program to make sure everybody is up where they need to be and pass. I mean it should be just like a pt test or firearms qualification I would think. I am pretty sure they will do what ever so everyone passes.
Got a letter yesterday. Y'all should have heard my scream. About the only thing he is having problems with is timed tests. Says food is good, this from a boy who would eat spaghetti and pizza every day if I let him. Obviously he has not gotten my mail, he says send letters. Signed it "Your best son." He must have been in a hurry with his form letter note, so many misspelled words, but this letter is perfect. No erasures either. If you can find the time, send a letter along with your own to any sailor and ask your SR to give it to someone who may not be getting any mail. It will be appreciated and you will feel so good. Luv ya all. Have a great day. Now I'm waiting for the phone call, maybe this weekend.
got my letter from my bf on thursday guys!! my mom called me at work thursday morning saying the mailman came and i was screeching and squealing. everyone at work was clapping. i started to tear up. the minute i came home from work i read it. i then re-read it out loud and it was absolutely sweet and everything i expected. he's doing great as well but missing home and me a lot but i can't wait to see him!! same he can only send out on sundays. so here's to hoping getting another one on thursday this week or soon! and his dad got the grad form thursday afternoon he called me and faxed copies over to me yesterday at work :) so all is ok and i can breathe now somewhat. maybe i'll see you lady's at the graduation :)
Hey bonniern, this is totally amazing, my son KL is ship 13Div326 pir10/1/10, and my name is Bonnie and I am also an RN, i guess that is what your name stands for. We got our first letter on Wednesday. I got 3/4 of a page (little paper) and KL's girlfriend got 5 pages. He told me to ask her for information because he didn't want to write it down twice. LOL. I can't wait for the PIR, we have reservations at the Ramada Inn in Gurney, sound's like really nice rooms, frig & micro, indoor pool, free breakfast. I wonder how many recruits are in this division, got any ideas? I have been writing every day and in his letter, he said that Sunday was like christmas. love to hear from you. Bonnie(KL'smom)
NOt sure how many in this div, but my son did say he had to get use to taking a shower with 78 other men, so maybe around that number:{
I heard 78 from my son as well! Yikes. Hope there is enough warm water for everyone.
Hello Bonnie, I got a full page of a little paper from one son and a paragraph from the other. It was more than enough to set my mind at ease. Hope we get calls soon. Take care, nurse Bonnie
It's Sunday morning and I'm walking around the house with my cell phone in hand... No call yet. The one letter I received mentioned that Sunday between 7am and 1pm is letter writing time. Younger brother was writing a hello for the older cause of duties he had... making his bunk. :) Older boy didn't like spending the night at my house cause I made him make his bed every morning... scratch that, afternoon when he got up. :p They did sound great and if I don't get a call today I know deep down that they are doing well.
ProudNvyMom- The swimming test several skills like treading water and holding your breath. It's all doable with practice. I'm sure he's getting a lot of help from his new friends/family. Probable mostly my youngest who is assigned to help everyone pass their tests. (Po2 I think.)
