Hi! My daughter leaves tomorrow for KC. She will be going to Great Lakes for basic the next day. i know nothing about the Navy and am a little overwhelmed. I am so glad to find this site I sure hope I can find someone to kind of walk me through what to expect. She signed up last month and is leaving this month so I have not had much time to adjust to this! Thanks for any words of wisdom or advice in advance.

Welcome aboard.

I was in the Nay and loved it. There is a lot to learn, though, the confusion is all part of the process.

Do join the New Moms group, and the ladies will give you more advice and places to begin. There are many great groups here for you to explore, learn, ask questions, cry, vent, laugh and make terrific friends. I'm in a bit of a rush just now, so I'm just posting one group, sorry!

Hi Lacy's mom, I'm Zak's mom! Welcome to the NFM site...Our son left for BC back in April and I was confused and worried too! Did alot of crying. But this I can tell you. DON'T WORRY, the time while she's at BC will fly by, and before you know it, you will be attending her PIR (graduation), and you will be so proud! =) Our son completed BC, stayed in GL for A-school, and just yesterday joined his ship which is out to sea, and will now be traveling for 4 mo. to Korea and Hong Kong. He was stationed in Sasebo, Japan! He LOVES the Navy, as I'm sure your daughter will as well. So hang in there, be supportive of her, write lots of letters, and before you know it, you'll be with her again at her graduation! The girls on this site are SO supportive and help in so many ways if you have any questions at all.
I don't know exactly what your feeling but i know how hard it was for me.....i don't know if you believe in God but if you do (have faith and pray for him to comfort you and your loved one thru these hard times that are coming for you both).....I can tell you my son is graduating Power School next weekend and i could never be more proud of the man he is.......Hang in there and the day will come when you look back and realize it's all about the trust and faith we have......She will do well and i want you to know i am going to pray for you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK LACY AND MOM--------
Thank you so much. Yes I pray everyday for her. I have peace but still miss her like crazy. .Thanks again
I believe that with your support Lacy has made a great decision that will set her on a track for the rest of her life. Even if she finds out later that the Navy is not for her...it is a great place to step into and then onto the rest of her life. My best to both of you!
My son just finished and now stationed at GL. He is now having a hard time transitioning from being told what to do every second to have a little bit of free time
I Just got the letter telling me all the info on graduation. I am so proud of her and very anxious to get a letter.
Yay for you...what is your PIR date and I'll send you the link to the group
