Aren't these just the longest days in your life?  I'm now a mailbox junkie, hangin' out by the box all the time just waiting for that letter!

Does anyone have a son or daughter Ship 6, Div 945?  Being a performance division, I'd love to hear what you know about the workload and their (few) extra privileges.

        Thank you all!

Hi Patricia,
I have a daughter who is in Ship 6 Div 945. She is in the choir. I just got a phone call from her yesterday!! That was wonderful and difficult at the same time. She hasn't really said too much about their workload or extra privileges. She is the division Yeomen so she talks about her specific extra duties but nothing else. I understand that will be the last phone call I will get until after Battle Stations.
NavyMomX2 - So glad for you that you got a phone call. Our son was hoping to call last night but it never came. Understandable. Time is not their own in BC! He is in the band, fortunate to get one of the two snare drum positions. He said they will play at their own PIR and several off-site locations in Chicago--a real honor to be off base. That's all I know about it. Hope he is able to keep up with all his other requirements in addition to the band!
Hi Patricia,
My daughter is in the choir. They too may be performing in Chicago - Labor Day I think. Congrats on having a son in the band. That is great! I am so looking forward to hearing them all perform at PIR. It is too bad that is the only time we will get to hear them. My daughter said that they leave PT to practice for the choir. That is fine as long as she is still able to pass her tests. She seems to be doing fine though. Will you be at the meet and greet at the Ramada on 9/23? If so, I will see you there!
NavyMomX2 - No, sadly we won't make the M&G. We plan to leave New Jersey on Thursday morning (if you call 3 a.m. 'the morning' . . . to me that's still night time!!) and drive straight through the day. I hear traffic can get pretty heavy as you get closer to the Chicago area, so we're allowing ourselves 14 hours just to be sure. As much as I want to go to the M&G, I think the 7 of us, having been cooped up for a long time, will all be pretty tired. I think I read somewhere that if you find a video of a PIR one or two weeks before our own that you might see your recruit performing for someone else's graduation. Let me know if you spot one and I'll do the same.
I'm not trying to invade your discussion, I just want to add...So, along with the discussion about the M&G....If we were to decide to relocate the M&G I would be willing to get it relocated, but that would mean that each family would need to pay for their own meal/bill.

And on that note, I'm wondering if your division wants to do something as a group to make easier to find each other....Pins, sashes, scarves, etc... but they've been around for a long time and each division is responsible for doing their own if they want to. It's not a necessity, but it does help you locate the members in your specific division.
You have so many options... different colored scarves, lanyards, sashes, t-shirts, hats, etc... get creative and think of something unique to all of you and work with the talent in your Div. You will be surprised what all you come up with. It really is just a fun thing to do to make each division easy to stand-out at the M&G.

I don't need to be "notified of the results" of your decision. There has also been discussion of maybe not doing it by division , just doing something for our whole PIR group.
My son called and said that they have to perform at not only their graduation but others as well. Haven't heard of any extra privileges only extra time spent practicing.
When I told my older Sailor his 'little' brother (he is 6'3" and my older sailor is 6" LOL) was in a 900 division he was, well, lets just say I heard a lot of 'sailor words' and then a chuckle. LOL

He said that if a SR does really good in a 'Honor Division' that they will probably be called on to do 'Presidental Honor Guard' at bases where they are stationed.
Hi my son is also in Ship 6 Div 945.

I got a letter from him Wednesday. Said they were working hard and dont have a lot of time for writing. Also said they were doing their Marlinspike this week and if they got no hits on them they would get a 1 hr phone call home. I havent heard from him so they must of got a hit.

He has the Ricky Crud like everyone else but refuses to go to Medical because he dont want to miss something.

Hell week for their division is next week so keep your letters of encouragement going to them they are going to need all the motivation they can get during that time.

Has anyone else heard from their SR this week.
Sorry to hear your SR has the Crud. Happens a lot but knowing that doesn't always make it better, LOL. I too got a letter Wednesday. My son said they are going to a parade in Zion, Illinois. Said that's not a big deal . . . but they are going out to lunch. Score! He also said they are moving to a new ship. Do you have any info on that? Is there a change of address that you know of?

Is your son in the band?

No phone call, so I guess you're right, Whaletalker, they must have had a hit while at Marlinspike. Hell Week's next week . . . send up extra prayers!
Hi Patricia,
No I havent heard they are moving. Hmmmm I wonder why right in the middle of their stay?
I will have to get on the internet and do some seaching for some pictures of the parade. If I find some I will post them.
My son is on the rifle team. What is your son in?
Yes my SR said Hell week next week also. Lots of prayers and letters of encouragement.
I think 945 Division is performing at the PIR next week since 943 graduated. Maybe some pictures of our SR's!!
Patrica, I looked up Zion and they say the have the biggest Labor Day Parade in Illinois. They call it the Jubilee Days Festival Parade. It is going to be on Sept 6th starting at 1pm. Wish I lived closer I would to to it. But I am going to keep looking for pictures on the net. If I find any I will post them for everyone.
Thanks for information. :)
