Thanks for the info and support. I found the Grad n Go info last night and read it and I'm hoping he'll get weekend liberty. I'm not going to cancel our hotel reservations just yet.

Glad they are all feeling better. Mine mentioned being sick (in one of last week's letters) but not sick enough for SIQ. It surprised me because I could count on one hand the number of times he's ever been sick! Probably because of all they're having do, I guess. And, I also sent mine a football article...with the first letter I sent him. He said, "we're not allowed newspaper articles...so NONE of that...lol". Hope he didn't have to do too many push-ups! :-)
yes don't cancel your reservations... i found some interesting info out from my gf who used to date a guy in the navy and she knows a lot of info on the navy and said sometimes it's just to rile them up. more than likely most of the kids staying at great lakes have liberty for part of the weekend, so she said for us to stay positive and we'll all get time with our loved ones :)
I have sent like 4 separate Sports items to my son since he has been there and he says, send more he loves them, hmm?
I got a letter yesterday and one today. I was pretty excited, but both were pretty short. He said he was doing okay, but he was sick. He said he was doing his best to suck it up, because he didn't want to get set back. He wasn't able to tell me anything about graduation, said he would let me know more when he knew. I really wish they would get another phone call. I would really love to hear from my son, so I know he is feeling better and things are okay. Two letters was cool though :)
I guess Im in the same boat as you guys, my SR's letters are short and sweet, but answer NONE of my questions!:0 Except his gf is also @ boot camp, she went 2 wks before he did, so this website is my MAJOR source of info, so thanks guys I appreciate any info you got.
same letters is helping me thru!! he said the same at the end of my letter once he knows more info about graduation he'd let me know. obviously they don't tell them a whole lot probably til the week before or week of!! either way it'll be great to see our loved ones! he said also he's working hard to earn another call so maybe they will get one more call before they call after battlestations is over. you never know!
Got another short letter from my son today. He said they have zone and drill "tomorrow" (not sure when that actually was because I still can't get him to date his letters! lol) and they had just started Hell week. Does anyone know what zone and drill means?

Here's a great resource I found to read about what they are doing each week if you don't already know about it. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/navyjoin/l/aanavybasic4.htm It lists P-Week as a separate week, then 8 more weeks. But, I count only 8 weeks total for them. Maybe their P-Week & Week 1 were combined?
same here. i don't know it's quite confusing especially when they don't date their letters. my boyfriend dated his first letter and every letter after that he has stopped. so i don't know when things are happening but thanks for the great site!
I got a letter today, I'm so thankful that they have more time to write, he seems to write a short note every chance he gets. And I heard that they could still only mail things on Monday, but I'm getting letters at different days of the week so he seems to be able to mail them. This one was written on Th & I got it today- Monday, so that's pretty quick. He was much more upbeat than he has lately, really seems to be starting to feel proud to be part of "The world's best Navy". There was a little bit of division info, so I will share it with you. He tells me what they're doing, but never if they do well or get in trouble!
As of TH, they were a couple of days into Hell Week
They had their second PFA that day at 4:30 AM! & they had an inspection on how they were dressed, he thought it was called WTI
They were learning about weapon safety & were going to shoot with simulators on Friday- while they were doing that their compartments would be inspected
He said there was just a lot of stuff to do in a very little amount of time
that's really interesting info he wrote you. my boyfriend tends to just write me certain stuff and not a lot about boot camp! i've told him recently to tell me about it!! i want to know. i guess he doesn't want me worrying lol! thanks :)
In the letter I got yesterday he said WTI = Weapons Turnover Inspection and PI = Personal Inspections. :-)

Said he got perfect scores on all of his (and PFA)! I haven't seen grades like that since his Freshman year of highschool! lol! He must be enjoying it at least a little!
Hi everyone, Got my ex husband to read my SR's last letter, it also included that several kids were sick (including one of mine) and that all the sick ones were going to medical that morning. The ricky crud???

Has anyone rec'd a formal invitaiton to PIR? I read that it would come at around week 4 in the mail, not the form letter, but some formal invite. Maybe because we are on crunch boot camp ours will be a week late???

We also have not rec'd details, maybe the kiddos have instructions - restrictions about what they can disclose. I will just keep praying our sailors do well.

Take care all, Bonnie
