Do all the hotels near RTC (boot camp) have shuttles that'll take you to PIR?? My husbands PIR is Sept 24th. I'm looking around trying to get a good deal on a flight and hotel and possibly a rental car but i'm not for sure about the car yet.

Thanks!

The shuttles are really just minivans (taxis) - I think most of the taxis in the area go to all the hotels.
As far as free, I'm not sure. It is usually $5 each way to and from PIR - per person. I suggest taking the shuttle instead of driving even if you have a car - much, much, much, much faster getting both in and out.
No not all the hotels have free shuttles. Some have shuttles but at a nominal fee. I suggest that you rent a car BUT if your hotel has a shuttle take it. Some take their car but park it across the street at the train station.

But, I STRONGLY advise you to rent a car..with GPS and the EZ pass if you plan on going into Chicago
ok. thank you. i have a GPS that i was gonna take. i won't mind paying for the shuttle if it gets me there quicker instead of having to wait in a looong line.
I've found the cheapest flights(when I was looking) into Midway/Chicago to be with Southwest.
We rented a car, but should have done the ez pass. Wow, lots of tolls. We stayed at the Homewood suites. Loved it, but it is 20 min from base. It worked out well, but I could see how it might bother some people. We had no trouble getting into the graduation parking area or anything. We got there at 6:30 and our car was not searched, it was very well organized and I saw people that arrived really late, like 8 or 8:30 that still got decent seating. We only had 5 divisions graduate though so that might be different for a larger group.
We have children attending the PIR, Is there an area for the children to move about until the ceremony without causing problems?
You are on bleachers, but they can certainly move about down on the floor area until it starts. Just make sure you have someone to save your seats. There will be a concession cart all the way down on one side. Standing in that line will take some time and they sell packaged muffins, etc and also drinks and coffee and sailor hats! Bring something for them to do like coloring books, books to read, etc. You can also bring in a snack for them
Good to know we are going next month and have booked at the homewood. Were the rooms nice How was the breakfast?
Absolutely the BEST prices!
Hi did you find hotel if not try Nava Lodge close to gates from what I heard ,we're staying there very reasonable.
Is it better to stay close to the base or close to Chicago? We'll be coming for PIR 11/24/10. Worried about weather, Thanksgiving traffic. Not sure I want to drive in Chicago. Any suggestions?
We stayed at the homewood suites and loved it. Very reasonable price $65 for a suite, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Tell them you are there for PIR. It is about 20 min from the base, it was not a problem for us at all.
