My sons last letter said something about a bunch of running around preparing for graduation, so it must not be that bad! He wrote home on Sept 12, he said Mon sept 13 would be 4-3 weapons live fire.
Received letter yesterday, seems upbeat! No word on BS.
My guess is that today is 5-3 for them
I'm new to this, sorry. I just rec'd a letter from my son and he said the division's PIR (Sh13, Divs 326) may be delayed. Does anyone know details about this? He's not very detailed in his correspondence.
I got the same information in my letters. I really think they tell them that to mess with their minds. Remember... No call is good news. It's messing with my mind also. But, he did mention once that they were told ... If your writing to your girlfriend, it's no use, she's sleeping with every guy within a 10 mile radius. I really think they are just messing with them. Did anyone hear about the ice cream incident? The chief came in and announced "If anyone wants ice cream, get your money out!" my son said it was funny, everyone who got their money out had to do jumping jacks and fullbody somethings. They just really mess with them. It really hurts me that I can't somfort my son, not that he wants it, hasn't for the past five years. I still want to tell him, it'll be ok. Can't wait to see everyone at PIR.
OK, I spoke to my son's recruiter and he said he had not rec'd any news different from the 10-1 PIR. He said no news is good news and that it would be next to impossible for the entire div to get set back. He said the logistical and financial implications would be a nightmare for the Navy. He said telling the recruits that is their way of motivating them. I felt so much better and so plan to move forward as planned. I really wish I had gotten on this website sooner. I don't have internet access typically so this is a real treat. I miss him so much and can't wait to see him. Thanks, Bonnie, for replying so quickly.
Jan C, My daughter in Afghanastan said they just say that stuff, just like your recruiter said, they can't hold back an entire division.
spoke to two of my friends; one who has a fiance who just graduated and is in a-school now and one whose leaving for boot camp in nov. they said they are simply just trying to put them on edge. nothing is for certain that PIR is pushed until we get the call!! so no news is good news. still wondering why though i have not received a single letter this week :( i'm quite upset and worried!
We have a hotel with a swimming pool, my son wants me to bring him a pair of trunks. I read somewhere that they have to be navy approved. what kind do they approve?
he will need to get his trunks from his ship after PIR when he goes back to get pictures.... I think
Got a letter today, said that there are a few troublemakers who are messing up everything, everytime, just not coming together like they should be. They are talking about ASMOing the whole group, he doubts it, but said 'heads up". they must be done with hell week, he didn't say what they were doing now. The shooting was done, he got sharpshooter & was happy about that. He said test 2 was the next day, his letter was dated 9/14 so isn't the test the end of hell week? He said they did Marlin Spike. He said he wants his next tattoo to be a quote by capt John Paul Jones, so they must be learning some Naval history! overall, he sounds good & says many times that he is proud of what he's done so far & happy that he's gotten so many letters from people. A 100% change from his letters just 2 weeks ago, so I am happy.
Jane, my son said the same thing about a few troublemakers, in his division, not sure who they are but of course he is very upset at the fact that they might all be held back because of a few that can't pull it together. His main concern is that I will drive 13 hours from NY to be 3 miles away at a hotel room then find out that he is not going to PIR on 10/1. I told him not to worry, I would make it happen again if I had to just to be there for his PIR regardless of the date. He doesn't need to worry about whether he is going to see me or not I will be there either way. You know what I mean? :)
