THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!!!! My son is an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts and has been traveling the past 5 summers for several weeks at a time. 3 years ago he went to England for 3 weeks and i didn't even get a postcard. Again thank you so much, you and your husband will probably end up being my lifeline to bootcamp. Orca
Hey Y'all ... I got home today and had two letters waiting when I got here! YAY!! It was a wonderful way to end my weekend get-away! Of course I had to put the letter(s) down and boohoo for a minute or two, then picked them back up and finished reading.

Bonnie - what you wrote about kids goofing off, sounds pretty much like what Josh wrote. He said they paid the punishment price for the screw up of a chosen few. Hopefully things will get better as time rolls along.

Orca - what's your son's name? I'll send it on to my son and see if he can get any info for you ... I'm surprised Josh has written letters as he did. He's not big on having to hand-write anything and we had one envelope with some general news and the second had letters for all three of us - my husband, our older son and myself! (Josh finally found the letter I had tucked in his wallet before he left - and he said it couldn't have come at a better time!) And make sure you keep sending your son encouraging notes - whether you hear from him or not - but I hope you hear from him soon!!
Bonnie - Josh is doing ok, but I think he's a bit homesick - I was glad I put the note in his wallet before he left! He doesn't like to be yelled at (I don't know anyone who does ...), and it seems there are a few who haven't quite grasped the military way. We warned him about it being tough, but I don't think he was expecting it to be as constant as it has been.

He had some trouble with depth perception and I guess he will be wearing glasses before all is said and done.

What are the processing papers? Is that for being a spouse?
Hi Joshua's Mom - Thanks for the offer but I'll wait it out and find out what's going on from you and BonnieMae. Yes, I'm sending him encouraging letters, almost every day. Like I said earlier - no news is good news whenever he's been away- so I will continue to view it as such.
Hello BonnieMae - thank you for the invite....I'm hoping to hear from my son again today. He said they had to wait almost two weeks to begin processing so hoping that it's not too much stress trying to fit everything in now in 6 weeks. :( this is the first time I've gone this long not talking to him....since he was born! It's a little tough needless to say.

I'm sure it's hard to have your husband away too! Try to keep busy!
Yay! We got three letters in the mail, today!! One was a questionaire I'd sent him - his answers were hilarious! It's good to finally see a litte more of his humor coming out! He said there are still only a handful of recruits who actually grasp the concept of bootcamp, but they're "somewhat" getting better.

He's having a bit of difficulty with the PFT - running 12 laps around a track, with no stopping and no walking (He's not much of an athlete - he's more a computer geek. Ha!) He didn't make the cut the first go 'round, but I know he'll get it the next time.

Hope you get (Or got) something in the mail, soon - or a phone call! As long as Josh keeps writing, I'm good with the no phone call ... no news is good news!!
No, you're not the last. My daughter Em is in the same division. They're the girls who take ultra-fast showers. Hope To see you at PIR!

Welcome Jmarie and Ann!

Ann - When I first started this discussion, I thought I was going to be the only one ... and then people have started to trickle in! lol WHEW!! Glad it's not just me!

If anyone is planning to go to the Meet-n-Greet at the Ramada Inn, Thursday, October 28, from 6pm - 8pm, you may want to go and RSVP. I believe it is a courtesy thing, but they need to know how many to plan on for food and beverages.
Hi Joshua's Mom,
How do I rsvp for the meet and greet.
Hi Ann,
I am Carol, Carly's mom.
So now I know another girl's name, Em. Have you heard from her yet? If so, does she mention the other girls in the Div and how everyone is holding up? Thanks for any news you can share.
Hello all,
I thought I had joined this group way back when it first started but apparentlly not. Please reply if you can read this. So glad to hear some of you are getting letters. Our daughter's name is Carly. By the way BonnieMae, she is a couple of years older than the average recruit also. Hoping that helps her with the frustration level while the "rebels" get it figured out.
Wish I knew how things were going. We have had one letter dated sep 6 and she said they were still waiting for people to show up. Last time I checked S7/D351 was still slated for PIR10/29. Thanks for the heads up about the meet and greet on 10/28. I will rsvp, if I can figure out how to respond. So not a geek.
Any more letters or news from Great Lakes?
Here's to everyone getting a phone call this weekend.
CR
Hi ....I just received a letter from my son. He wrote it 9.17.2010 He said that the night before was the first night they received mail and that he had not received anything???? I sent all his letters/pictures/stamps etc. out as soon as I received the Form letter on 9.13.2010....so I guess that is why he had not received it that day? It was too soon? Also, in the form letter the last 4 digits of the zip was 3401 then in his first letter that we received on the 20th he had the last 4 digits 3127 in the zip. I assumed this is the Perm "ship" they moved over to. Hopeing that if it went to the original zip code...they will still bring the letter over to him??? I was so hurt that he did not receive mail when others did that night on the 16th! Now...on the letter we receive today.....it's back to 3401 ahhhh....what do you think? Does it matter, will it still get to him?

He also said that they were hung up for 13 days before even starting the processing.... He had his wisdom teeth taken out and has to stay in bed a couple of days......but other wise he said he is having a good time. He loves his uniform and feels so proud when wearing it. He passed the PFA (physical fitness assessment) he was one of the 16 who passed out of 88....so I'm very proud of him. Also passed the swimming test....and now just waiting for the results from the written test they took. So looking forward to seeing his family at the graduation!!! I can't wait to get there!
