While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

A few random ?s about Battlestations, PIR,etc....
1. Since Battlestations take place overnite, does the official ' I'm a Sailor call ' happen immediately upon completion or just anytime the next day?!?! Kinda concerned because if it's the day BEFORE PIR, we'll be flying into GL and more than likely won't get the call.
2. Does anyone have SPECIFIC info and instructions on arriving on base for PIR? The RTC site just gives the basic driving directions. How about which gates? Is there nearby parking (to entrance) for handicapped persons?
3. Also the same for picking up our Sailor for Liberty over the weekend.....I heard not to miss their amazing march to the parking lot. What time does this happen?? I'm guessing there's a specific area for this as well?!
4. Can you Adopt a Sailor (or 2 or 3!) for PIR weekend?
I'm sure I'll have more questions to come! Trying to gain as much knowledge now before 10-29-10!!

The "I'm a Sailor" call came to me about 1:30 pm on the east coast while the division was having their pizza party at the NEX. In terms of getting on base for PIR, there is only 1 gate, it will be clearly marked with road cones to get in, and you will pick up your SR the same way in the parking lot by the church. When you pick them up, be sure to get their early so you can see them march up. It's is wonderful. About adopting a sailor, you can take as many with you as your car can fit. Just be sure to have them back on base in enough time to walk back to their barracks to muster up for the night.
PIR is a wonderful experience. Take lots of pictures inside, but remember, no picture taking outside. Don't forget the tissues for PIR.

OMIGOSH,THANX FOR RESPONDING! Good to know there's actually only ONE gate, because I briefly read a post (not sure if it was this website) that there was a back road to skip the traffic and a different gate...!! Geez! Also glad we can take as many Sailors - my mom wants to take them to dinner!! She even mentioned paying for a cab so more can leave base.

my call didn't come until 5:00 that afternoon on the east coast he said they got to take a nap afterward and he did he said they were all so tired but when he called he was very excited!

I didnt get my "Im a sailor" call until the plane landed in Chicago. Just a heads up, a lot of recruits want down time after BC, they want to be with their families or spouse and not share. I would suggest you ask your recruit first if she wants to share your company. I am all for including sailors with no family or friends there, but they have been with their bunkmates for up to 8 weeks, they may want to get away from them. Just a thought.

We've definitely discussed and are all for it. Especially since we were uncertain until last week that we we're gonna make it up there. My sister had been offered by other girls to tag along with them when she thought she'd be alone. I know I'm extremely grateful someone made the offer to my SR!!!!

Why can I not find the week to week schedule for boot camp? I have been told where to go and when I get there I can't find the schedule. Please someone, make me understand!!! I am trying to find out if this is the week for the gas chamber for ship 10 div 331

relax about finding the gate...there are signs, "I'm a sailor calls" started about 130pm and lasted till evening. the sailors may make plans to go with whom they want.over liberty weekend go to base about 0730-the march up about 0800...this is the "other " mornings not the am of pir
