Just got our letter today so not sure how many out there have the same information.  7 days in and he says it sucks !!!  probably so !!  we'll start writing to him,  encourage him to keep going and remember that you go through Basic Training, you don't stay there.   Better things await those who persevere !

God Bless all the recruits

Am glad you have all that taken care of . My son will go to school in Biloxi and I know he is looking forward to a warmer winter although none of us thinks it's fair. !♥!♥!!!
Biloxi is just 20 miles from my house! Yes, he will enjoy the warmer weather, generally we are still wearing shorts for Christmas!
That's it !!! Now i know where we are going for the entire winter !!!. Maybe you can come North for snow, ice, blizzards, below zero temps., whatever you would like ? Did not grow up with winters like these and I don't care for them much. It is pretty but dangerous to drive in.
Any word from your recruit?? We haven't heard anything yet, we keep waiting for a call or letter.
Haven't been on this group lately as I don't have much to say. Travel plans are made so now we wait.
Enjoy the warmer temps, we have been in the 50's and the trees are changing quickly.
nola, as well my son is in ship11 div365. i received hie form letter too. and as u i made my hotel arrangments too. we are staying at the navy lodge. im so nervous and scared all these feelings i have never felt before. im so looking forward to getting to know alot of other moms, dads, and family. then meeting them at the pir.
Hi Kelly--my name is Kay. My son is in ship 11 div 366. I just booked rooms at the Navy Lodge also! We are renting cars and will probably drive in. Such anticipation waiting to hear from my son Cody for the first time!! Anyway--wanted to say hello. Maybe we will cross paths at the Navy Lodge. Have you ever stayed there before? Is it a nice place?
I got my form letter on Thursday with the PIR date of 11/12. My recruit says it doesn't seem real to her. Over all, it isn't too awful. She is Ship 11 Div 366.
Welcome linda, we are just sharing information as we all look forward to that Nov. date. Now the travel plans become a reality !!!
hi my son is ship 11 and div 366
Nola, my heart goes out to you and your boy. Haven't gotten my letter yet but....I am sure it sucks and you advise to you son is great. Better things are to come! Our boys can do this (AND..so can us Mom's!).
-L
nola, just got ours, too, and he said they took his contacts and he wondered how was expected to learn anything if he was blind--guess it was two days and he hadn't gotten his glasses yet. Sure hope he just kept his mouth shut and did his best. Cannot wait to get a longer letter. BTW, he is in ship 11, but div 370. Just filled an envelope w/sports info that he will appreciate.
Interesting comment on the contacts, I went to the Navy site and it said it was O.K. to bring contacts and a weeks worth of solution. I know they will be issued glasses but taking contacts right away? seems ridiculous but we don't know why they do what they do. If only we mothers were in charge !!! Yes, keeping the mouth shut I'm sure is difficult. I would either cry or bop someone. ; ) I'm sure your son will enjoy the sports info since they probably won't have access to much.
My son was given strict info from my daughter, it sucks but only really the first 3 weeks then it gets so much better. They all pretty much go through some type of transition and this is the main thing thinking it is bad and wont get better it does trust me, my girl was there for 3 months and 8 days. She was sick and then better and then sick again... it will work out. encouragement is the key right now, be the cheerleader for them.
