Just got our letter today so not sure how many out there have the same information.  7 days in and he says it sucks !!!  probably so !!  we'll start writing to him,  encourage him to keep going and remember that you go through Basic Training, you don't stay there.   Better things await those who persevere !

God Bless all the recruits

I got two envelopes today. There were several days worth of writing stuffed into the one envelope, day 2, day 5, no this is really day 5. Hearing her voice yesterday was great, but having her letters in my hand is really good!
Hey Swagner - looks like your SR has found her groove, I'm so happy to hear that!
Apparently there was some sort of snag with the mail. Even though their division was one of the first on the ship, they are one of the last to get mail.
i got my call today too...but the connection was REALLY bad...he says there mail is being held until tonight bc the "kids" couldnt get there new (issued today) uniforms stenciled in time...he loves his job he has...but is losing his voice...he got to go to church...and has passed everthing...they worked on there div flag and the artist is going over it? wasnt clear on that...but his div while not working togther the best is doing the best...they got a special flag...and high marks on somthing...i was just so happy to hear his voice...aww hope i can sleep tonight...
littlepig this is exactly what my PR told me as well...they were allowed to have a phone call one week prior to today but they lost it because the division was not acting like a whole.

My PR passed all his tests so far, except for the run...he was off by a minute and 1/2. He got sick from the penicillin shot, so im hoping this was a factor in his timing. I am just worried he will not make his time before the final time or battle stations.
I heard from my son today too! I was so excited to hear his voice. He did not sound homesick or down at all. He sounded like his regular self. We talked for about 30 minutes and he told me about many of the things you all have mentioned. I asked him how tough the PT was and he said it was hard, but he was keeping up. One of the hardest things they have done was a 10-minute run/sprint/run/sprint routine that was really exhausting. At some point he qualified for the top PT group by about 2 seconds, so he's sort of in the bottom of the top group trying to keep up with everyone. A few seconds slower and he'd be in the top of the 2nd group. I asked him how the intimidation factor was--how much yelling etc, they had to endure. He said it wasn't too bad--they mostly got yelled at when they screwed up. He was in ROTC in high school, so he's been through some of that. They are a brother unit to Div 365 and intermix with them in some of their activities. They aren't getting to spend any time outdoors--he said the only time they are outside is when they are marching to or from buildings. He said it feels like they've been there for 3 months instead of 3 weeks. He hasn't received my letters yet, but hopefully will tonight. I am going to sleep well tonight just hearing his voice relieves SO much of the tension. Can't wait to get his promised letters, which apparently is 4 or 5 letters stuffed into one envelope.
Okay ladies, I have sent friend invites to all of you so.........if you don't respond I know who you are !!! : ) That way we can get more info on each other and let our recruits find each other. If you are new, please speak up so we're all included. Thanks.
It's so cool to see that we are all over the U.S. but have one common interest. ♥
I'm there!
Wouldn't it be awful if we all became friends and it turns out our sailors don't like each other?
perish the thought !!! but it could happen. remember, they will all probably be going to different A schools so we will all probably be joining other groups as our recruits progress. Kinda sad but kinda exciting for all the new people to meet. Maybe some of us will be along for the entire ride - who knows?
I think that this is a great idea! I just added you as a friend. We all need to stick together. I haven't been on this site for long but for the short time I have been it has been such a help for me to hear what everyone has to say. It helped me through while waiting for that first phone call and the first letter. Thank you to all of you for making it bearable.
This has been my lifeline and teacher, N4M got me thru these first few weeks and I'm sure more to come.
Thank You everyone, your are all so kind, thoughtful and patient.
