Happy Dance today!! We got letters!!! He wrote four and put them in one envelope!!! He is doing good, likes the marches and they have cool cadences. They had a really bad beat down day last Friday, he said it got old fast which sounds like him. His bunkmate is from CT. and he doesn't think there is anyone else in his group from Michigan. He talks to a guy from Texas and they have baseball in common as well as A&M. That is where he wanted to go. He got accepted to Auburn Universtiy which was his first choice. Navy came into play. He also says there are people from around the world in our Navy! There is a guy from Ghana, Africa! Strange, we let other countries in our military. Didn't know we did that. Anyway, praying that you all got letters today too!!!!!
I am glad for you!! I didn't get anything so hopefully tomorrow. I got his box on Fri. then the next day got the form letter. So guess in south Fla. the mail takes longer to get here! I hope he wrote but then again he is definitely not a letter writer!! I was just happy to hear from him last Sunday and since I haven't gotten any other calls I know he is fine!!
Sharon, some of them are able to get a citizenship card and can then enter. You would be amazed how many Mexicans are in the Military. Most had to wait on citizenship to enter unless they were actually born here. It does happen and for the most part just follows the saying that the USA is the melting pot. If they can dig deep enough to know they are not a threat and have no one in the family that is a threat all is well. Kay said she had a few girls that were from the Philippines. She said they were teaching her some basic language if she was ever to get stationed there it would be helpful. One had only been in the US for like 3-4 years or so.
No letter for me, but the phone call is holding me over.
Info. on Div. shirts. The recruits get a chance to order for themselves, if you want to order call 972-347-6655, Poseidon Sportswear.. I ordered today, they only get Div flag a couple weeks before PIR, but if you order now or by 20th, they can guarantee your shipping date so you can wear for meet & greet, or for the weekend with our sailors. She said 85% or recruits order one for themselves, so I didn't order his, just for me & stepdad & if he didn't order one I'll give him his stepdad's. Go 369!!! Their first big academic test is tomorrow.
Hi. Can you please tell me more about the Div. shirts/Poseidon Sportswear.. ? Not sure what these are, who they are for, etc. I can't find any other info...
Let's pray that all has passed their tests today. I am savoring the letters we received yesterday! Diego's brother and sister loved reading them. The bad part is that husband, Kevin is in California and has been since 27 September. He called last night and told me that he won't be flying home today as expected. He will fly home on Wednesday, the 13th. We have Parent's Night tonight wih Korey and the football team. I will have Kacy stand in for him. It is what it is and this way we will be able to get Diego a new laptop that he will need for A-school!! We are so blessed!! Hoping you get your letters today!!!
Sharon- wait to buy this. Check at the NEX. Kayla got hers there and we paid like 150.00 less than at best buy. They have no tax and this is for the Sailors so it is fine. He will need to go in with you, but that way he can also pick out what he wants.
We saw many she liked and it was always what the NEX had and she was happier saving some money. It will be nice for them to have this. We also got her a data plan. Thought about tethering from her phone, but glad we did not. She has no reception at the base she is at. This way she can get on there and even text my phone as she has a number for her plan. lol We spend honestly about 2-3 hours on the phone during the day, but what actually is heard takes that to about 1 hour or less. always dropping the call on her end. saying I am sorry I did not hear you. It is crazy. I hope you all have better bases than where she is stationed.
Thanks, we will wait then. He will probably want to pick his own out anyway. He loves the fact that he can use his own debt card. He had his dad's for the longest time and then he started his own account and it has worked out well for him. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.
Spoke with our friends last night, there son is on Ship 12 Div 342 and they are now Sailors!! They passed BattleStations yesterday. What an exciting time for them. He will PIR next Friday and we can't wait to hear how it goes. She will send us a photo of them as soon as they are together. We can't wait to see them go through it with their son as we will all be going through it with our sons. She did say it was really bad for him when he was to do the gas mask and chamber, he got really sick after. I am sure they all do, that nasty gas gets into your lungs and eyes. Prayers that our division goes through and all will be well with them. I also spoke with another friend and she was in the Army, She shared some things with me last night and everyone gets through so much. She was in many years ago and had to endure all the yelling and getting in your face stuff too, so things haven't changed much. Looking forward to calls tomorrow and more letters!!!! Have a great day!!
Got a letter today! He said that this division talks a lot and gets to extra PT for it but he says everyone is cool and there are a lot of southern boys (hes a southern boy too and lovesss the south lol) He said that everyone gets along and he actually said boot camp was fun... I don't know if he was lying on that part or not but he is known to make the best out of any situation... Cant wait til Nov 12 to see him again :)
Wow..lots of southern boys..mine is from Fla.My son also said it was fun except for the studying all the time..That was always his nemesis in school...I printed off a boot camp week by week..looks like this week will be the weapons training and hopefully they all will know this is also HALF WAY for them...looking forward to much cooler weather when we fly up to graduation as it is still hot here. Also this is the week they take their graduation photos!!
Cold weather I bet is getting to the Florida boys lol. my bf got 4 nose bleeds in one day, and he said he saw snow flurries on the way to church Sunday morning. Im going to be even more excited if it happens to snow up there since ive never seen snow lol
