OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I am pretty sure that it is around December 17th through Jan. 2 or so...from what I am understanding, the guys have to use their leave they have accumulated or "pay it back." I will try and get more information on this from my LO...
Thank you,I would really appreciate that. We are very new to military life and are quite clueless! Do you know if there is a site to go to that has the Christmas stand down schedule? Looking forward to chatting on Facebook!
I am not sure...I find out everything through my LO who has been there since May 2010 but is injured and getting ready to return to regiment in November...
Oh My ...what a long haul you have had. Hope things get back on track for you real soon.
My LO was in H with injury and illness for 8 weeks. It was not easy to watch everyone in your original class progress through training but sticking with it was definitely worth it. Graduating and moving on is even sweeter to those who have challenges and many who have had to persevere learn a lot about themselves and leadership along the way. Congratulations to you and your LO and best wishes as he continues his training. There are many, many of us who have been where you are and are now out in the fleet and we wish you all the best!
Im getting excited for the 24th! Anyone in this Forum going to Newport with their LOs? I will be staying at the Navy Lodge on the 23rd. My boyfriend is in a facebook group for his class and they have arranged a dinner in Newport on Saturday night. I will be there. Will any of you?
Also, I will post this in the facebook group just in case some people on facebook do not read this.
I dropped of my boyfriend today in Newport. It was really hard. We have spent every day together for the past couple of months so it is going to be really tough for me. He is excited and I know he will do fantastic and enjoy most of OCS. Saying goodbye this morning was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I just cannot wait until I hear from him.I hope its soon.
