My daughter is Ship 9, Div. 007. I have not received the letter yet, but I'm in Seattle, WA and with yesterday being a holiday, I figure I should get the letter today or tomorrow. My understanding is that our PIR is 11/24/10 and that the recruits will have the full 4-day weekend but will not be allowed overnights. I'm trying not to panic because I'm seeing flights and hotels filling up for Thanksgiving weekend and I'm concerned that we won't be able to get reservations, but I don't want to book anything until I get the letter and confirm.
Hi there,
I'm so new to all of this and am not sure if I'm answering this correctly. My daughter is also Ship9 Div 007. I can't believe I'm going to spend so much on Flight, hotel, and car not to mention food and incidentals. Wow! I had hoped for the weekend of Dec. 3...we live in Florida and to come to Chicago in the winter months is bad enough but to think there could even be snow????? Anyway, just want to talk with someone else who has a recruit in the same ship/division sets my mind at ease:0)
2PatriotsMom -- My daughter is Ship 9, Div. 007 also so I would guess our kids are together?? Yeah, I about cried when I saw the cost of flights, hotel, rental car, airport parking, and I still have to get a petsitter and pay for meals while we're gone. I had put off selling my daughter's car after she left, but today I listed it on Craigslist because the proceeds will help pay for my younger daughter (16) and I to get to PIR. Florida to Chicago - wow, quite a weather change. I'm coming from Seattle area, but I lived in Eastern Washington for years in a snow belt. Of course I have a Kia Sportage that will go anywhere in any kind of weather and in Chicago I will be driving a front-wheel drive car. We'll hope for no snow just for those few days!
It is defintly going to cost us a arm and a leg but it will be worth it. It will be great to see our babies. i can't wait I'm counting down the days. 5 1/2 weeks until we get to see them. The good thing about the day before thanksgiving is we will get extra time with them.
No letter again today. Has anybody else gotten mail?
That stinks you should of gotten something by now call your recruiter on Monday if you don't recieve it tommorrow.
I got a letter yesterday. I was so excited running into the house to tell my younger daughter that I tripped over the cat and almost killed him and myself. Luckily, we both survived! It was wonderful to hear that my daughter is alive and well and surviving bootcamp. Only 35 more days until I get to hug her!
