Wow, that video is awesome. I sent it to Adam too. It's nice to see where they will be.

Betsy
Nancy,

Woah, his recruiter is brutal. I kinda wish that Adam had gotten in trouble, though. I think that he knows most of the General Orders, but I think he's kinda fuzzy on a couple of them.

Betsy.
Hi girls....I went to the recruiter's office yesterday (my first meeting with him) they are all really nice, so happy I went should have done that a long time ago, they told me if I have any questions or need anything after Taylor leaves i could call them.

I love the thought of them having to write the General Orders 75 times, when I was talking with the recruiters yesterday I told them I thought they should have a pop quiz on the START book, of course I call it the SMART book because if you actually read it you will be smart, what a concept. Hhhmmm, maybe I will call the station and suggest a writing lesson on parts of the SMART book.

I actually had Taylor sign a POA, as a safety net, I thought what if he needs something like medical records or school records, while he's away, I don't think they will release them to me but if i have a POA I can obtain any of that, I just know that it would be really difficult for Taylor trying to handle that being so far away. We also opened a bank account for him and I am on the account so that I can access the account if need be, however, if he overdrafts the account I'm sure I will be the one putting the $$ in the account.

I can't believe its only a week away, time has flown by...I had a slight RAOC earlier tonight, Taylor was leaving to go to the movies with friends and he said to me "I love you baby boo" I'm not sure why that hit me so hard but it did....ok gotta run RAOC is creeping up on me.

Hope everyone is doing well. :o)
Elizabeth
Oh Elizabeth, this is so nice that he called you that. ((hugs)).

Oh crap, I hadn't thought of the overdraft issue. LOL. I guess I will be doing that too. But, at least his bank statements will come to my house, so I will know if he does.

I told Adam that we will do the POA tomorrow. I'd feel better with one, at least for his health care.

Betsy
I wore my pink scarf to my youngest daughter's softball game on Saturday because it was in the 40's. Thought I would give it a trial run, LOL. It kept me warm, but I had to keep pulling pink fuzz off my lips, LOL :)))) Susan
Hi everyone, How is it going? I feel like all I do is make lists in my head about what all I need to do before B leaves. My dinner ended up being Monday and just family but that is ok. It was nice. Tonight his friends are having a fish fry for him. (and he didn't want a going away party). I feel like I waited to the last minute to do everything and I hate that. I am on his bank account now but he will be going with Army/Navy later. The recruiter didn't ask B for any friends and addresses and he doesn't remember if he signed any permission papers. He is a a wealth of information. lol. Betsy, these papers would be for HIPPA probably. B was checked Monday and he is at a good weight. Yay. He still hasn't gone through the clothes he wants me to send to A school. He told me not to touch his bedroom for a year. What!!! He is cramming his material he should have memorized already. There was somewhere I read here that at mail call the guys that get alot of mail get dirty looks, B said S... from the RTC.
Susan, I have heard many times on the discussions that kids have to call home to get information for clearance. Just in case they do call you get the info from your son so you will have it. Anyway if they do have to call we can talk with them. That is good news about the 10th or 17th of Dec. I still need to get my scarf and make reservations. I told B I was going to call his recruiter about questions I have and he said fine. I still don't know if they pick him up here at home or we take him to the recruiting office. He now carries his SS card in his wallet. Don't let them forget that. I don't think they can swear in without it. I wanted to ask if the navy bible they have at Barnes and Noble is 3x5? I wanted to get that for him. He has a smaller one he can take. He is getting a metal himself to wear. He is donating his clothes he takes and wears to Great Lakes and doesn't want to take his cell phone even though I wanted him to. The only thing I will get in the box is a form letter. RAOC. He doesn't want me to see his facebook site so forget the password. He said it was because of the swear words. Sure.... He will have no problem keeping secret everything. He is in the perfect rating.

Pages and pages back there was a discussion about losing weight. I need to add my 20 pounds to it. I am going to start walking again. I have nothing to wear anymore.

Coming here really helps and I enjoy reading all of your stories. You think things will settle down once they leave or only get worse? Talk to you later. Kathy
Betsy-I typed up a card for Ian in little bitty font and I was able to include everyone's addresses and phone numbers. I still have to laminate it. Someone mentioned buying a laminator for home, which reminded me, i ALREADY own one!!! LOL It's in my classroom and out of film. I am going to take it with me this weekend and print out pictures at the party and laminate them right away!!

Ian won't let me know his facebook password either, he won't even give it to his brother... I think these things will not be as important to them in the long run as they are going to change so much.

Maybe we can teach them all a secret handshake to exchange in order to identify themselves. hee hee
Giants won!!
Have a good day tomorrow!!
Nancy
Nancy....you cracked me up with the secret handshake....Elizabeth
If you go to their facebook wall you can post in their status their address or other info you want to get out to their friends, but I saw in a post in another group about a mom that cut and pasted messages from friends into a word document and mailed it to their son. I really like that. A lot of little messages from friends would be fun for them to get.
Wendi
Yay, Sara. I'm glad you ordered your scarf. Wait till you see it, we will probably be glowing in the dark as well.

And, I've heard a rumor that it tastes good too, just ask Susan. lol

Betsy
LOL that was hilarious Betsy!!! Sara, glad you are ready to go :))) Susan
Hello ladies,
So im haven a hard day today.
ive been in the process of Packin up my room.
its very emotional for me. :( i say process, cause its taken like months
for me to do it. i think the reality that im never gonna live at home again
is finally setting in, honestly, thats the last thing ive been thinken about
up till now. but now thats ALL i can think about.
Im a 18 year old girl, and im MOVING OUT. idk its just scary i guess.

i find it funny that out of everything to be worried or scared about,
im scared of leaven my home and my mommy and daddy. :(
there not there to hold both of my hands and swing me through
life anymore. its now my responsibilty.

needless to say have been having LOTS of RAOC episodes today.
just four days left.
