I know that he didn't pass PT the first time and was very discouraged because he thought he would be OK except for pushups. I don't bring it up because I almost feel like I'll be rubbing it in that he didn't listen to me when he was DEP. I try to stay really positive in letters to buck him up. I think I might have heard from him by now if he was really having problems in PT. I've seen on other posts that if it really looks like a recruit won't make it by his PIR they call home right away. So I'm hoping that's right.
BS21 = battlestations 21. It is sort of an all night practical exam held near the end of training. They go on this state of the art trainer and get put through various scenarios on things they were taught during basic training. There are some good videos of this on this web site or on Navydads.com. The Zs
Got a letter from Joe today.
He has been thinking about re-enlisting as a BOATSWAIN after he finishes his first enlistment as an Avionics Electrician. This is an enlisted person who would: "train, direct, and supervise personnel in ship's maintenance duties in all activities relating to marlinspike, deck, boat seamanship, painting, upkeep of ship's external structure, rigging, deck equipment, and boats. BM's also operate and maintain equipment used in loading and unloading cargo, ammunition, fuel, and general stores."
■He was disqualified from doing Ceremonial Guard (he was asked to do this after he got to BC) because he is enlisted as FTS (Full time support) instead of active duty.
■He learned that the Navy's first boat was named HANNAH... so he thinks Hannah (my sister) should join the Navy.
■Some girl in his Division said "Shut up" in a way that reminded him of his sister Alli----with an elongated up. It made him smile..:) Imagin that.. smiling when someone said to shut up (not sure if it was directed at him or whether it was a playful one or wanting someone to be quiet)

On Oct 7th:
-He got his national defense service medal/ribbon combo
-He shot at sharp shooter level and earned a ribbon w/ an "S" on it. He was super excited about that.
-He was disappointed though that he missed expert (by 7 points) for shooting but plans to reshoot for it at A-school
**Overall DIVISION 351 shot at an 800 division level (Special ops)

-They got their dress blues, whites, and service dress uniforms on the 7th and received them back from the tailor on the 10th.
-They got to call Monday because they did really well on their drill inspection on the 8th. They also had their pictures done on October 8th. REMEMBER the SR has to order the pictures so remind them to do so. You can send them a check.

**The RDCs are getting even more relaxed
**They have more hands on training and days start at 0400 at the latest
**Proverbs 2 reminds him of my parents and he wants by brother, a ladies man, to read Proverbs 31 (LOL).
He also mentioned that ASMO setbacks is up to 17 now.
he didnt say. I think last week he told me they were at 12 (last thursday) but I cant find the letter. :(
Got a letter from Josh, today. Most of what was written was what we talked about last Monday.

As far as the ASMO stuff, just remember, you'll get a call if it happens. Hopefully, all of that is behind the guys (And gals) that are left. Battlestations is just around the corner and the, "I'm a Sailor!" call will follow ...

Remember ... just BREATH!! lol

We're going to Daytona this weekend for Biketoberfest! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
me too!! :)
**Like. :) Hugs all around!! :) Cant wait to meet everyone.
We are having Artober fest this Weekend and Oktober fest next weekend in my city.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend ... I don't usually look forward to the end of the weekend, however in the case of getting to PIR, I'll "give in" this time! Ha!

I love all of the "Fests" of October! LOTS of bikes in Daytona ... too many for my taste, but it's something the hubby loves and I do enjoy riding through back roads, in the country - that and we spent the night in a hotel with a great view of the ocean! Nothing beats watching the sun rise! (Or the setting sun if you're on the west coast - and being in Florida, we have our choice! Ha Ha)

Dillons Mom - {{{HUGS!!}}} to you, too! I think that's what I've enjoyed the most about N4M - the support of fellow moms, wives and girlfriends who are all going through the same thing - at the same time!

Just think ... one week from Tuesday, we'll be getting the, "I'm a SAILOR!" call!!! HOO YAH!!

Candles at the ready, ladies! (And don't forget the aim-n-flames to light them! ha) Battlestations is almost here ...
Anyone else have a child in 351 going to "A" school at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri?
I am excited for this weeks letter too!!! But I get my letters on Thursdays. So next Thursday i will be in GL by the time the letter comes... The mailman doesnt arrive until 1700 or 1730, AND I fly in to Chicago around 1200.
In my son's letter, dated10/17, he said they had firefighting,Final PFA, Final Academic Test this week and that BS21 is on 24th-25th. That's the most he wrote about during BC, other than bringing his $^&%(&%^$^ phone.
