"I'm proud mom of a sailor" and so is all of us!! HAHA Everyone will be saying yep. Hopefully everyone will get in early enough Thursday to meet. WHo wants to sleep we will be all to excited!!!
I heard there is a cool haunted house you can go to in the City. You don't want to drive into the City as parking is so expensive like $12 an hour. Just walking down Michigan Ave is cool, might even see Oprah or someone famous. The shops are neat to go into. Since you got a letter, maybe I will have one when I get home. Leaving in 10 minutes, going to drive like a mad women to get home fast. HAHA!! Glad I know all the cops.
Argh. I am on the west coast and my mail person hasn't arrived yet, but I am expecting something. My son told me Sunday that he was mailing something. Yippee...I found his first letter, so i can print the parking pass!
I just got a letter. So good to hear from him again. 4th one and this one was a long 2 pages. Last one was 6 pages. Lot's of it I had already heard from our call on Sunday. I think he had already started writing it. Doesn't matter. Just to get it was a great feeling!!
I know it totally surprised me too. He hates writing. He's going to church now too. Who is this guy is right. I cried as usual.
CBmom - We stopped in Chicago for one day this past summer and took a river tour boat archetectural tour. I think the company's name was Wanella (or something like that). It was really nice. Highly recommend. : )
Got two letters yesterday. he sounded good and ready for graduation was looking forward to going out to eat. I have asked him about bs21 and he said only that it was this week sometime. He also said that he heard it was kind of fun and was kind of a big deal but really had no emotion about it it was just one more thing to do before PIR . I am surprisesd about the letters also, he just has never been a big person to comunicate but I have gotten 5 and that is a lot from him and they were all semi long. He also wrote grandparents and aunts and uncles. I cant wait for PIR also!! I have now started to gather things I dont want to forget. plus things my son needs , Like his boots from before bootcamp that are worn in and heels cut out for running etc. But I am sure I will forget something he wants ! Hope you all get letters. Have a great day. It is raining in sunny southern california today :(
Hi ladies. Greetings to Kayliefirefly. Lucky you, being part of this awesome group of gals! :) Well, I had a crazy day yesterday (working, daughter's bday, in the car all day) so I didn't get to drop in here and congratulate you on your "single digit midgits"! :-) What in the world does that mean you ask?? Why, that there are only single days left in the countdown-usually used when referring to a Ship or Sailor's homecoming, but appropriate here as well-so today, it's 8 days, and a wake up! :) Get out those suitcases. Oh wait, tsmom has you beat there! LOL

I knew there was something I liked about this bunch, wine (actually, grape juice for me) and (my preference-dark) chocolate! Hey I know, why don't you each buy a cheap plastic wine glass and a chocolate bar (put a ribbon around it and do a little gift exchange) to further help ID each of you at PIR! LOL Btw: the Div bleachers aren't that big! Unless someone comes late and gets put into overflow, or chooses to sit in the upper deck, you should all see one another. :-)

As far as stress pounds, very common during BC it seems. Bravo Zulu to ts, Brie and Proud Mom (anyone else?) for getting motivated to do something about it now. Keep setting small goals, try to be as consistent as you can and work up to new goals. Each day is a new one, with new choices and opportunities to choose healthy habits, to do things that will benefit you in the long run too. :-) Here's to some hot mamas at SQT graduation! =) I wish you all the best. The gym is (relatively) cheap therapy, nothing like sweating off your stress and building up those endorphins and seratonin levels too! I should know, I work at a gym! :) Let me know if you have any question about that arena. I might be able to give you some tips and info.

I've been told that deep dish pizza in Chicago is a must, so working hard now means no guilt if you indulge a little there, right?! All the walking you do there will probably get your metabolism revved up! Take comfy shoes! Definitely avoid the driving into Chicago scenario! If you have a football fan, I highly recommend "Da Coach's" restaurant "Ditka's" for lunch or dinner. It's like a mini museum of football memorabilia! There's a variety of good food and apparently "Da coach" himself drops by to chat with folks there some evenings. :-) The cruise off the Navy Pier was relaxing, Sailors are free, (though it might be a bit cold to do this time of year!) and of course the view from atop either of the Towers is a spectacular must see! The Field Museum is apparently pretty cool too. Hoping to make it back and do that and the Shedd Aquarium, and some of that pizza, sometime. Can't do the whole city in a day, but you can get a good flavor for it. Ha ha! Check out the City Pass (online) site for $$ off the main attractions.

In the meantime, hope those long letters and calls keep coming. May you receive those "I'm a Sailor" prior to flying out to GL! =]
So, we are allowed to bring them stuff? I thought they still couldn't have anything that wasn't issued by the Navy. What about a cell phone?
Well if they transfer to prebuds or another baracks before the weekend they can have there things not sure if they will or not. but the boots are navy issue , he just got them himself before bootcamp so when he was working out in coronado with the delayed entry SO's he could brake them in slowly instead of doing it harshly at buds. my son said to bring his cell phone and laptop . He can always just use in our hotel if they cant have them yet. I think he wants to contact all his friends.
Dinners sounds fanastic tsmom and the wine even better. I'm bring some wine with me (I work right down the street from a good wine store) and chocolates. SO we have to meet some time Thursday night at M & G, our ribbons will be the same and have that wine. If you have a favorite let me know. I can't wait for next Friday.
Don't worry about the driving my husband won't be drinking. Ladybug I'm from Michigan driving in, so lots of room for anything we want. Let me know and I will bring it. We will not be drinking much just a couple of bottles. HAHA. Can't wait less then 7 days.
