My son also leaves on this date from New Mexico. Where is your son leaving from? This is my first child in the Navy, I'm not sure what to expect...
hi my son left for boot camp today
You hang in there mari112. We're all experiencing the same thing! This is a great site and has been a lot of help to me for months now! :)
my son left from NY and is heading to Chicago
Hello twosilvatwins. My son leaves in two days for GL bc...I'm just learning how to get around this site, but so far I've really appreciated the support. So it your son leaves tomorrow? I will include you in my prayers tonight! It appears our sons will be out there together. I look forward to hearing from you.
My son left today. He is still not there yet. I'm not sure if he is stuck at the airport still. The weather is bad for traveling. Where is your son leaving from?
I've been following the weather...it sounds pretty crazy out there! How are you doing? We are going to Albany, NY tomorrow to leave Nick at the hotel. Then we will drive down Thursday morning for his swearing in and to wait with him at MEPs and then at the airport. Have you heard from your son at all? My son is not taking his cell, so I won't hear anything until he gets there.
My son left from Phoenix today. We just got "the call" that he arrived at Great Lakes and they made it there okay. He said he would be sending a package of his personal affects in a few days and his address in a day or two. He sounded tired and like he was reading from a script. And so it begins...
Hi ctownnavymom! I took my son to the hotel on Monday and stayed the night there too. We were actually two doors down from one another. :) Other than checking into the hotel, we were free to hang out and hang together except for one meeting he had that night. He went to MEPS the next morning and I joined him at 9 am. I watched (and took pics) of him swearing in and we spent the rest of the day together until he flew out that evening. His flight was delayed a couple of times due to weather but I didn't mind. It just gave me more time to be with him.
He did have his cell the entire time so when he got to Chicago, he phoned and then he phoned when he got to bootcamp and told me it would be three weeks before I would hear from him again and that I should be getting his package in the next couple. They will send his phone back with his things!
I held it together pretty good until I got back to the car and saw his Navy bag when I opened the door. I fell to pieces then and cried all the way home! I was by myself too, so that wasn't good either! LOL
But I'm smiling today and have already started my countdown! I told him that the next time I saw him would be in that exact same airport and he would be in uniform! I am imagining that day now. Just as I told him, I'm keeping my eye on the prize! He's coming home soon and that's where my focus is! Hang in there!
Hey there! My son left out of Louisville and his flight was delayed twice! I was so thankful that I made the trip with him. We spent all day Monday and Tuesday together until he flew out at 6:45.
Hi TysMom. We said goodbye to our son yesterday. He spent yesterday in Phoenix MEPS and flew up to Great Lakes this afternoon. We just got "the call" that he was there safe and would be calling in 2-3 weeks. He sounded tired but good. I sure miss him but know he's doing a great thing for his country and his future. It's hard.
