before the holidays? or come home?

Hello Vanessa. From what I understand Christmas Stand Down is from Dec 17th to Jan 2nd. Great Lakes wants all sailors to leave the base for the holidays as nothing is open. (because people in charge are gone home for the holidays)
The sailors who have no place to go for Christmas stay in the USS Cole, Barracks.

I don't know for an absolute fact that your daughter can come home, but I think it is a strong possibility. Sailors are always on hold before they start (A)School. After PIR, she will be moved to the temporary Barracks (usually BEG 532) She will have INDOC classes for about a week. Then will probably be on hold before starting (A)School. My son was on hold for almost 4 weeks before school.

She will be allowed to have her Cell phone too, after she moves to the (A)School side of base.

What is her rate? My son is studying to be a FC. (Fire Control- for missiles)

How are you holding up? Boot camp can be a very stressful time. (for us moms). Have you joined your PIR Group yet?

Sandy
SHIP 09, DIV 016....PIR Dec 3RD Hi!! my name is Maria I was just wonder about the same thing, Will they come for Xmas after graduation? That would be the world to me!!!..Thankyou,
What concerns me is that it is so soon after PIR that they might not get through earning Phase Two of liberty. In phase one, they can't leave base or wear civilian clothes. So I don't know how that is handled. Also, they will have to sign a paper and borrow leave days, this isn't "free" time off. That could mean no leave after A school if their school isn't very long to build up more days.

When they find out and let you know for sure, please post it here so we'll have the information for next year. LOL, watch it change ...

They earn 2.5 each month.
i think that is why my daughter hasn't had a real clear idea of whether she will be able to come home for Christmas..first she said yeah, she would be able but when she called Sat. she was not really sure...i think we may be left hanging until the last minute which will be bad for our sailors..and all of our wallets..
