Ft.Meade is in Baltimore near BWI airport. We are 2 1/2 hours away. We live between Ocean City Md. and Wallops Island, VA. which is Navy. Yes it would be nice to meet some faces. I have already been calling about where to stay for graduation. I found the Navy Lodge alot cheaper than the hotels there. I am taking him Sunday and watch him get sworn in on Monday. That will be a tearful event, but a very proud moment for me. I hope he makes that team. His job is one of the top 5 to get in there If he make his mind up he will do great at it.
So are you staying in the Cleveland area on Sunday? ARe you flying in? I will have to check out the Navy Lodge. Thanks for the information. I know how emotional it will be on Monday. I am trying to be strong, but I will miss Nick so much. We are so close. When he leaves I will be an empty nester. I am not ready for that.!!!!!!!!!
I will also be an empty nester as well. Im not ready either. I am tyring to be strong as well, but its hard. Are you going to see your son get sworn in? That is going to be hard for me that day and waiting for that 30 sec call home. My son is taking his cell to keep in touch until they take it and ship it home to me. They said he will be able to call from airport once landed and let me know he is on his way to GL.
Wow, we are going thru the exact same thing then. Yes, we are watching him get sworn in on Monday. Where does your son get sworn in at?
he is getting sworn in at Ft. Meade in Baltimore. He has been a little moody today. Very snappy and mouth. I guess everything is getting close for him. Going to be an empty nest he is the only child for me.
My converation this morning on the phone with my son was all me speaking and him answering in one word or yes/no. I think this reflects they are contemplating their journey. This Monday he begins his journey to Great Lakes (their journey to an awesome manhood/womanhood). I get to see nothing as we live across the Pacific Ocean from each other. I will imagine and trust it is good.
Leigh Ann, I was telling my mom today, that Nick was so crabby with me last night. So I am sure the nerves are starting to get the best of them. Hang in there. I have no more kids at home either. I don't feel like I am that old. We will keep talking over the weekend. It really does help knowing we are not alone going thru this. I will be praying for all the moms here............
I cannot believe the time is almost here. Ready or not there they go, it seems like just yesterday they enlisted but here it is 8 months later and we will be sending them off. I will let you know about dinner on Sunday before we take them to Warren.
My son flys from Maui to Oahu to bootcamp on 11/16/2010. His school after bootcamp will be Advanced Electronics and Computer Field. He shares no emotional details and I live in Oakland, CA; depending on you Girlz ! :)
chew92 where will his box and form letter go?? To your home address?
He will send it to me in Oakland, the box that is. I will make sure he gives my address for the letter too since he has dissolved his living arrangements and stored his posessions in a traditional moving company to be retrieved at a later date. There is no one in Maui for the letter when he leaves. Thanks for your concern.
chew92 so you'll get the "I'm here" call as well? Or do you think he won't call and let you know he's there? Often the call is late at night (after midnight sometimes) just to let you know...in case he DOES call you.

The box will be delivered via FedEX...the form letter via snail mail.
