Lori, Thanks for all that great information - - we are driving also - - usually, I dread road trips with kids in the car, but this is one I am really looking forward to!!! How long of a drive do you have? Ours is 13 hours. I am going to call up right now and see if I can get the same deal you got. And I'll hope that we all are only there one night! It would be great to drive home with our kids in the car with us to enjoy the holidays with family!
Thanks again for the info. Will get the reservations made now. I'll try to forget about the mailman and go about my day - - yuck, work :( Sometimes a good distraction though.
Have a great day!!
The Residence Inn doesn't have a pool or hot tub (indoors, only outdoors) so depending on the age of your kids, that might be important. It isn't for us, especially if we are only there for overnight. Good luck! Hope you got some mail today :-)
I haven't made reservations yet either. I plan on doing it Saturday. Which hotel is the N4M's staying at?
I haven't either...I was going for 'economy' (cheapest) since it is the Holiday time!
Cindy .. Have you found good prices? We are totally going economy for this trip. Its too hard for us to go that far with all the kids... We are actually choosing this over having Christmas presents this year. I hope the little ones don't get too sad about that.
Hi twosilvatwins; I have found good prices...one, with a PIR graduaion Discount is $59.95 a night for a room with two queen beds, and like 3 miles from the base...with free shuttle (can't remember the name and I am at work, so can't look it up). I got that one from the pamphlet that came in his informatin letter. We are leaning towards that one because they have a indoor pool for my 12 year old :)! I am doing the same thing as you...doing this trip in lieu of Christmas presents this year...Thank God My 12 year old found out about "Santa" last year, He totally understands...and is looking forward to seeing his big brother, and visiting Chicago!!! We are waiting for "E" To tell us if he is going to report strait to A school, or come home...if he decides to come home we are staying Thursday night, and probably driving home right after PIR to save money! Although...depending on how E feels, we may spend Friday night in Chicago and leave first thing Saturday morning. We are driving from Minnesota... 6-8 hour drive!
Awesome price Cindy! Half the price of the Residence Inn! Although, I have 5 people with me (including grandparents) so I felt we needed the 2 bedroom suite so everyone can sleep well (snoring, different sleep habits, etc.). Think we'll only have 1 night now which is good!
Thanks LoLo, after telling my husband about your price and a two room suite...he liked that idea better. Wants me to check the Residence Inn now since we will only be staying probably one night...Uggghh! Do they have more than one suite like that?? A couple of E's best buddies are coming with us...so that may work better!
I haven't received a letter yet. I checked the mail and nothing. This is hard. I hope he calls tomorrow. I hate being frustrated but if that is what it takes to be a sailor then I can live with it.
So sorry to hear that twoshilvatwins!!! HUGS!!! Did you send stamps with him? I will pray you hear something this week-end!!
Well Rats! I hope a letter arrives today! Keeping my fingers crossed for you :-)
Got a Letter today - he said in the letter that Im not writing much since we spoke yesterday, call came on Saturday so letter was written on Sunday and received in NY on Friday.
He said, "Since Im on a 6 week boot camp I can call every week, I think?" Me, Im not to sure about that.
Also asked that I purchase his ticket for his flight home, send him the flight information as well as the receipt " to get reimbursed for what the navy would have had to pay to get me to S. Carolina."
That was it - short and sweet. Now, I guess I will wait until next Friday
One Happy MOM!!!!
