Hi, I am a Seal wannabe mom. Looking for other moms that are dreading Pre buds and then the big move to California for Buds after graduation.

I sent my son his lap top and phone to him. It wasnt that expensive and had it in two days. He texted me today and said that him and three of his buddys were out for lunch and somebody paid for it. I thought it was so nice. It wasn't cheap either. Probably some old rich lady who thought our boys looked good in their uniforms. HAHA.
wow that was so nice.!!!!
Very nice. We heard of a family that went to dinner at Flemings (i think that was the steakplace), during PIR and they comped the two sailors dinners, and they aren't cheap! Nice for your son :) i love the support they are getting. I really liked the people in Great Lakes. So very kind. We noticed a difference from California. I hate to say that because I do think us folks on the west coast are friendly, but there was definently a difference. Slower pace too. Kind of drove me crazy, but I eased into it and found that I wouldn't mind that so much. My son loved the weather; although it hasn't snowed yet!
I am worried about my sons computer. I wrapped it up good. Lotsa bubble wrap, but sent it Parcel Post. I insured it, but I remember how they can throw things around. Oh well. We'll see. I sent it Wednesday and they said he should have it by Monday. I can't wait to hear how it arrives.
Anyone know anything at all about internet access for laptops on the base? My son was quoted something like $40 a month for his laptop connection. Too high. Anyone? He does not have a cell that gets internet.
Very scary stuff--thank you for the post. It seems I'm learning new things all of the time.
Hey! I'm still around--just don't have the time to be as active. It's our busiest season at work. I try to check in about once a week. I've been enjoying talking to my son, as I'm sure you all are as well!
We were very happy with S.W. when we came from Cali to PIR. Just have to remember to eat beforehand. I haven't apparently flown in a while and I didn't realize they don't serve meals. They were very generous with the snacks though. It was easy to get in n out and everyone was friendly. I also heard midway is much easier. Great flight attendants.
Argh....I did all the research and put a hold on a great flight, but did my son use the hold? No :( He went with another airline. Silly guy. I must let go...his money, his life.
