I know we are all overjoyed about our sailors coming home after PIR so let's get all of our questions answered here.

Ma'am,

Recruits graduating Dec. 17 & 22 will be granted leave and will be able to travel home.  Those graduating Dec. 17 will have their leave expire on Dec. 28.  Recruits graduating Dec. 22 will be granted leave that will expire Jan. 2.  Recruits are responsible for paying their own way from RTC to their home and then pay for their way from home to their next command for A School.  Once they are at their next command, they may request to be reimbursed for part of the travel costs.

Respectfully,

Recruit Training command

Traveling home the Sailors will be required to wear their uniforms because they have not phased in at A School.  A letter will be given letting them know what is allowed and not allowed while on Leave.  They cannot drive a car or consume alcoholic beverages while on Leave.

Our Sailors will not be allowed to bring their cars to A School.

This is a work in progress and I will try to answer questions as they become available to me.

Have a good day.  Kathy

Thank you Lori, for the great information.
Just to get something clarified !! Somewhere along the way, I need to get a Christmas leave form in my hands ?? Is this something that my son should be mailing to me? I have read this whole thread and I am totally confused. He did tell me that they had some time to check flights on the computer to book flights themselves. However, because he did not have a credit card (who knew to have this !!) he couldn't book his. Also said that on the 28th they will be given another chance to book their flights.I hope that everyone is able to check with their loved one before some double flights are booked !!
MarylandMom,

No, you do not need to have a leave form. My son just sent me a copy of the one he filled out, that's all. Your son will fill that out at BC.

You can book his flights, though. He just needs to have copies of the itineraries at boot camp by Dec. 7.

My son sent me a copy of the Christmas DER Sheet that he filled out at BC and this statement was on it.

****************"A copy of an E=ticket or travel itinerary MUST BE given to Scheduling Department by COB 07 December or you will be processed as NOT REQUESTING LEAVE."*****************

They also have to fill out that form by COB 3-3 day of training. Depending on when you recruit arrived, that would be this week.

The Scheduling Office e-mail is

Scheduling.Office@navy.mil.

Is Cj able to book his own flight and stuff to return for A school. I do not have acess to his money and I have absolutely none to help him with. I was turned down for the loan I needed to come to PIR. So now I am not sure how I am going to afford to go. I am so close to Chicago but feel really far away. Right now
CJ's mom,

Yes he can book his own flight. They are supposed to be allowed time to go to the travel department to do that. Does he have a debit or credit card with him?

I'm so sorry to hear about the loan. :( I hope you are able to get there.

Betsy
I had the same question. But he does not have his debit card with him. Does that mean we should buy his ticket for him?
waving girl,

Did he ask you to purchase it for him? Some of the recruits have been able to make their own arrangements. But if he doesn't have his debit card, I doubt that he could have. Did he have a credit card with him?

I would ask him in a letter if he wants you to take care of it or hopefully he will be able to call you again soon and you could ask him then. I'd hate to tell you to do it, only to find out that he might have done it himself.

Betsy
Thanks Betsy - I sent my info this morning to the email address my SR told me this week, I called to confirm receipt and they said that it was the wrong address and to send it to yours mentioned above.... - Dont know why I wasted the phone call - should have come to N4M's first.. heheh
Thanks Again....
Patti,

You're welcome. I'm glad you were able to get the correct e-mail. lol

Betsy
Waving girl.

If he asked you to do it, then I would do it soon. They have to have their itinerary before Dec. 7, or they won't be able to take leave.

Betsy
I am with you. I feel at a loss as to how to make plans. We have not heard anything from our son for over a week.
