For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Thanks for adding me :) im sure i will have lots of questions once we get there since its our first place and more than likely he wont b able to stay very long so there's gonna b alot i have to just figure out.. did u guys do on base housing? we have been looking at off base stuff that's looking like it carries the same benefits of being on base just a lil further away like the chula vista area?(i think that's what its called lol)

We are in base housing,but it isn't on base.We are in the Santo Terrace/Murphy Canyon area it is about 15mins north of the base.I think there is only a small amount of housing actually on the base and that is reserved for...I don't know who lol.So fa this is the only housing area I have seen,aside from the photos online.But we really like it,this area was recommended to us but a family we met when we were in VA.

well I'm not sure my daughter is single but commited in a relationship so she likes to cook for him and herself, so she wants to get her on apartment off base when she gets back from deployment, so I dont know wat would be good for u all but my daughter says u cant cook in the places on base but housing for a married couple may be different.

Yeah, most barracks for single sailors have only a communal kitchen if that. Family Housing has kitchens. If she's a single sailor over E4 and wants to live with her partner an apartment off base is the best route!

That's the only route for unmarried sailors. However, if she is an E-4 with under four years of service, she might not get permission to live offbase. She could if she wanted, but the Navy would not provide a housing allowance to her. She should ask, as some of the ships allow some of their sailors to live ashore. There is no barracks which allow partners to live with the sailor. There are a few apartment-like barracks now in some locations with communal kitchens, however, the visitor rules wouldn't allow him to live with her.
Maybe he could get a job to pay for an apartment.

With on base housing they take all of the housing allowance, and they do inspections regularly. You can usually find a place off base for a better price and not have to worry about your personall space being invaded
