Wow, I can't believe it took me so long to find this forum! But, Got a letter Saturday, and since most have not had word for a while I'll share.
12 Dec.: Sunday Holiday Routine - The one day we get to relax, somewhat.
14 Dec. Or not so much relax as spend my free time sewing buttons on my blouses because they keep breaking in the washer! At least I'm getting reasonably good at it by now. But I'm running our of replacement buttons. We are in Hell week now. Monday we had Personal and weapons turnover inspections and they we quite well. Had our second PFA [Personal Fitness Assessment] and most of the div passed (me included), we flagged so we get to carry a flag that says we have an over 80% success rate...Cost our RDC $ as he bet we would not pass. I guess what he said is true: We were going to be a smart div or he would make us a strong div...and let me tell you we are not a smart div....Today was zone inspections and we did pretty well but must wait to see if we flagged this as well. Waiting to hear how I did on weapons simulator (did that today as well) but I think I did well. I'm hoping for a ribbon. As for the rest of the week, Thursday will be Drill inspections (we will not flag, I just hope we pass) and Friday is Academic test 2, hoping to retain my new nickname.
At the end of the letter he mentioned that he did not get his first choice at NUKE school which was for ET, but got EM instead. He wrote: "sad face, mom, sad face" Not really certain what the dif. is, but I am certain he will enlighten us latter. I'm certain he will still enjoy it- what ever it is. Overall I have to say that while he still retains his trademark sarcastic humor, his letters are much more upbeat than they were at first. Take heart everyone, they are improving as a Div. and still have plenty of time to "gell." So far I have not heard anything "unusual." My brother was in the Navy too, and so far, my sons letters are par for the course. And when I'm missing him, I just remember and earlier letter in which he wrote: "There is just so much yelling." (Totally sarcastic) And I totally crack up and think, yep, that's my kid and he sounds just the same.
i received a letter sat too and yes they sound like they re getting it now !!! :)
Thanks for the info ladies - two weeks with no letter and no call!
Got a letter today finally and all is well. My SR says they are doing much better as a group, with only one failing the last inspection.
