Wow, I can't believe it took me so long to find this forum! But, Got a letter Saturday, and since most have not had word for a while I'll share.

12 Dec.: Sunday Holiday Routine - The one day we get to relax, somewhat.

14 Dec. Or not so much relax as spend my free time sewing buttons on my blouses because they keep breaking in the washer! At least I'm getting reasonably good at it by now. But I'm running our of replacement buttons. We are in Hell week now. Monday we had Personal and weapons turnover inspections and they we quite well. Had our second PFA [Personal Fitness Assessment] and most of the div passed (me included), we flagged so we get to carry a flag that says we have an over 80% success rate...Cost our RDC $ as he bet we would not pass. I guess what he said is true: We were going to be a smart div or he would make us a strong div...and let me tell you we are not a smart div....Today was zone inspections and we did pretty well but must wait to see if we flagged this as well. Waiting to hear how I did on weapons simulator (did that today as well) but I think I did well. I'm hoping for a ribbon. As for the rest of the week, Thursday will be Drill inspections (we will not flag, I just hope we pass) and Friday is Academic test 2, hoping to retain my new nickname.

At the end of the letter he mentioned that he did not get his first choice at NUKE school which was for ET, but got EM instead. He wrote: "sad face, mom, sad face" Not really certain what the dif. is, but I am certain he will enlighten us latter. I'm certain he will still enjoy it- what ever it is. Overall I have to say that while he still retains his trademark sarcastic humor, his letters are much more upbeat than they were at first. Take heart everyone, they are improving as a Div. and still have plenty of time to "gell." So far I have not heard anything "unusual." My brother was in the Navy too, and so far, my sons letters are par for the course. And when I'm missing him, I just remember and earlier letter in which he wrote: "There is just so much yelling." (Totally sarcastic) And I totally crack up and think, yep, that's my kid and he sounds just the same.

i received a letter sat too and yes they sound like they re getting it now  !!!  :)

Thanks for the info ladies - two weeks with no letter and no call!

Got a letter today finally and all is well. My SR says they are doing much better as a group, with only one failing the last inspection.

Aloha All!
Happy to share that we just got off a 30 min. phone with my SR and boy did he sound great. (This call was a reward for scoring a 5.0 on the first academic test a couple of weeks ago). Said the Division was doing well. They flagged on the Drill Inspection! He did not think they would but they did, so Yea! Good for them. He said morale has really boosted since they flagged in Drill.

The Marlinspike (sp?) turned out to be a lot of fun, though they did earn 38 safety violations, and I had to laugh, when they did their man overboard drill and then counted all the crew to see who was missing the report came back: All men Accounted for! So they counted again, "All men Accounted for!" Oops! They they had to count again! LOL!

Lots of snow, inside PT is fun (yes, he really said "fun." and they are all looking forward to graduation and seeing family. Hope our call brightens your day as well. Our young men are doing well and success is within reach.
My son is with Ship 12 Div 039 also..I am so looking forward to graduation day. He is headed to San Antonio for A school afterwards...anyone else with someone heading the same way?
Yes, my son is also going to A school in San Antonio, which is great for us as we live in Lubbock (Texas)!
That is great for you..I have lots of relatives in Texas so hopefully I will get down there at some point to see him..I live in Kansas.
My son got two 5.0's recently- where's my phone call?  ;)
My grandson is part of this Sip 12, Div 039.I haven't heard from him for awhile. Will they have Christmas Dinner and continue training?  I didn't wash his shirt yet...can still smell his fragrance, it gets weaker everyday, but I think it will hold until 1/14/2011 :)
I hear you!  : )
I am not sure about Christmas dinner but I was told by a friend of mine they will have a little more freedom so I hope that is true...I know what ya mean about the fragrance..I went in my sons closet the other day and just stood there and smelled his coat...so need a hug from him.  I cannot wait until graduation day.
