Hi Mom's

My son is scheduled  for PIR on 2/4/11 an assigned to ship 11 div 061. I could not find any groups for moms who's sons are assigned to ship 11 div 61. Sooo I am hoping we could get together here and compare notes from our sons.  I dont know much about this division, I have read from other moms that certain divisions mean certain things.  Well I hope to hear from you guys :)

I received my call jsut a couple of minutes ago. He is homesick....He  said the food was good for Christmas and they got to write letters. He said things were going good and that their RDC is pretty good. He said there were so many people using the phones yesterday they did not have time to make phone calls so they let them call today. that little comment restored my faith in the Navy...lol   He said lots of academics but other than that not bad...

Potsie..dont worry about that comment from the Officer, they alwayssay things like that to make the recruits try harder...it is all mind games.........I am glad to hear you girls got your phone calls.....

Potise- I joined Navy for Moms so I could express my feeling and vent when need be.  I dont care what the Navy reason is and didnt need to be chastized about it. I am his Mom and that is what I felt.  I think many moms understood that.   I love our little group I feel we are very supportive of one another and dotn need the coldness of policy in our conversations.   We are the Moms who gave birth to these wonderful boys and raised them to be the way they are.   I dont beleive that they are trying to teach recruits to handle situations. My boy said that there was jsut to many people calling home and it got late so they had to wait for the next day. So obviously the Navy did feel the kids needed to call home.....Sorry some times I cannot hold my tongue.....I hope i get to meet you on feb.....thanks for being here

I got a phone call too. Hunter is doing great! He loves the food, he says it isn't too hard and that he has passed everything, including  a perfect on his inspection. He says he has written me every day and I should get the letters tomorrow. He wants to get engaged during his liberty weekend. I am sooo excited!!

No way!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

My sons girfriend just called (naturally, he called her first) lol, and she said my son asked her if she was moving to Connecticut to be with him during A-school, and she said yes! She was crying, she was so happy he asked her that. They have been together for 2 years:) but she was wondering how he was going to feel about everything, being he joined the Navy, and all.

Hopefully all our missing letters come tomorrow. ttyl

I'm okay with Navy blue top and gold scarf.  Another great reason for me to go shopping!  :o)  Has anyone ordered ribbons for "the ribbon lady"?  I'm going to order 4 for my family with my sons name and division on it.  Just a thought too.

When my son called he said the same thing.  Some of the guys just aren't co-operating and working as a team.  Hopefully they can all get their act together and realize it will be much easier on them when they do.  He told me he's been sick since day 1.  Sinuses.  Yuck.  He sounded very stuffy and was coughing a lot.  Poor kid!  He won't go to the Dr. though.  Not unless he has a fever.  He said the food wasn't too bad and that he's learning to eat a lot of new things.  He's a pretty picky eater.  So, that's one good thing that will come out of this.  Maybe he'll have a better diet!  LOL!  He said he's been hanging out with the master at arms during down time.  So any mom out there whose from NC with a son in that position.  E-mail me.  He told me the SR's name, but I don't want to post it on here.  It's too bad we have to be so scared to say certain things on here.  Love the scarf idea.  Bright yellow is a great color!

Pamela--Im so sorry. I messaged the ladies in this group about the scarves, and i didnt know your son was in this division:(( Im glad you figured it out from the other posts.

Any shade of yellow is fine. Just go with your own personal taste. I know that yellow isnt a popular color when dealing with fashion ( i dont own one yellow item) lol. But its all in the name of love for our boys.

Now i just have to find one! I told my sons girlfriend about the yellow scarves and she looked at me like a grew another head ! lol She said maybe she can find a yellow and black plaid one with a matching cap. ( oh to be twenty again...)

Actually, I love yellow.  But, I don't have a yellow scarf.  I'll have to find one.  I'm thinking black or dark blue turtleneck so the yellow stands out.  Can't wait for PIR.  Made our hotel reservations the other night.  Staying at the Residence Inn.  Hoping to get another letter from him soon!  Maybe the next letter will be on a more positive note.

Pamela-- i know what you mean about the letters. I didnt get my sons first letter until after his phone call. Im so glad i got the call first because his letter would have been more upsetting. All he did in letter was complain ( he used the word sucks a lot). But when i talked to him on the phone, it was about 4 days after he had actually written that letter and things seemed a little better, His main complaint was that the division had e few guys in that were hard to handle and they were causing some extensive PT for the rest of the group. He said the RDC's told them they 'sucked' and they were the worst division in there.

BUT... after listening to other moms on here, they were saying the same things were going on there div. so i wrote him and told him about it. I hope it makes a difference in his mental attitude, he was pretty down about it. Its so hard as it is, for them, and its something they all have to just get thru to get on to the next step, i dont know why they wont cooperate. Its a shame.

Hey ladies, wanted to let you know i received another letter and this one was sooo much better.

He said that the RDC's were getting more relaxed, and that they're actually pretty cool. One tells jokes all the time and one plays Call of Duty. Said that as he was writing, there were a bunch of the boys having a dance--off. Haha    He mentioned that its seems harder to breath up there??? I hope its not his asthma coming back.

He said they have a 'folding' inspection Tue (which already happened, wonder how that went. lol) Said most kids are showing respect, but not all.

His job is cleaning the bathrooms/toilets. lol And he painted the division flag. (my husband owns his own industrial painting co., so obviously, he cant get away from painting no matter how far he goes. lol).

He ended the letter (two pager), with 'overall, its fun, but there ARE days i just want to quit!'.

Just wanted to give you some insight from my sons perspective. keep me posted on what your boys have to say.. Maybe we can get a real good sense of how its going for them if we can piece it together from all of our letters:)))

If anyone needs a specific color scarf and cannot find in the stores, my daughter Abby has a crocheting business.  She sells her scarfs and things on Etsy.com.  The name of her business is "The Plum Giraffe".  Tell her that you are a Navy Mom and that I sent you.

thanks so much for the scarf info. How nice that your daughter sells her items on the internet:))

I hope it ends up to be very successful for her:)
