How long is his A-School? If it is not that long than I would just go visit. He will get a schedule when he gets there. My husband will also go to Florida for A School. He will only be there for 4 weeks so we are just going to visit. It would make no sence for us to move there because we have no idea where he will actually be stationed after A Scool. If your husband is to be there for more than 26 weeks I believe than the Navy will pay for you to live there. Check into that. I may be wrong on the weeks, but it is close. I would say to just relax shoot down for a visit and wait to be stationed. That is only my opinion and advice.

his A school is for 4 to 6 months thats 16 to 24 weeks if it is off by just a couple of weeks will they still refuse to move me down there. In the long run it would be cheaper for me to live there rather than fly back and forth and try to work around school and my work. i would rather go at the end of the quarter and then find a temporary job down there. I dont know necessarily who to talk to i dont trust his recruiters very much we have already been screwed over by them to many times, every time you talk to them you get a different response from each so they havent been very reliable.

Join the A school group, there are surely wives down there who have done this.
If you were married before boot camp AND the school is longer than 20 weeks, the Navy might move you there. He can apply to Live Ashore with you in an apartment. Pretty sure it is 20 weeks of seat time. He needs to ask when he checks in, and get the official word.
The problem with moving down there is that when he graduates, they will move you from where you are pulling BAH. If you leave your household goods behind, you can expect they won't move those too. Again, he needs to check.
@skell, expect that four weeks to be longer, with indoc and such, it will add a few weeks.

Thank you!!! We did not know that. They just told us he will be there for 4 weeks so I guess we will see. I still do not see the point in moving down there even if it is for more than 4 weeks. We will just see where he gets stationed. Thanks again!!!

how do you know how long the schooling is going to be? Does it depend on the job? And hey do you guys know of any special travel companys for Military families that offer good deals? I think i have decided to stay here and go to florida a couple of times betweeen spring break and school getting out. Also when do you find out where you are getting stationed?

As far as we know it does depend on their rate. Every rate requires different training. Since my husband is an AO he does not need that long of training. As far as we know you find out your duty station after they graduate A school. That is just what we have been told so far. If I hear anything else I will let you know. Good Luck!!!!

so where did you find the housing at? I think what i am going to do is just fly down there three or four times for a few visits and the last one will be at the end of his A school, he can have a phone and computer there so that way we can have more communitcation while he is there so that makes me more happy. Do you know of any affordable hotels around the schools for military to stay at? And how long did it take after a school for you guys to find out where you would be living at?
