For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I believe it is a brand name for scarves. There are a lot of knock-offs for them at a much cheaper price.

I think white would work well for most people.... and here is an idea,
at the Meet & Greet, each division could "receive" their division color that is voted upon here. Groigrain ribbons, in the colors of the division can be pinned on the white scarf. These ribbons can be picked up at craft/sewing supply stores pretty cheap.
They can be bought by the foot, yard or spool..... if we have an idea how many will be wearing their "Colors", we can have the ribbons at the meet & greet or at graduation morning for the ones who notify us that they can't make it to the meet & greet. Might take the stress out of the "big" hunt of finding the right division scarf.
BUT, I also agree with what "SailorMom" posted this is our sailors day..... plus we will be sitting in front of our sailors division. I had thought we should be wearing a color for "them" to find us in the "sea" of families?????

I just wanted to say that whatever you all decide is fine. The scarves are a great way to recognize other N4M members as are the ribbons I make. You can do one or both or neither lol. Most of the PIR groups in the winter months choose a scarf color for them all to wear. Several order my ribbons and wear them either on the scarf or on their coat or shirt depending on if they are inside or out. I have had several who say they wear them to church every Sunday. I am just here to help & I don't make a profit on them. It is my way of paying it forward because I love this site so much. The ribbons are a great way to show your support for your sailor & to recognize N4M members (this is the only place I sell them) plus they make a great keepsake. I sent a pic of one to my sailor when she was in bootcamp & some of the girls in her division had me make them for their families and mail them to them. They were so excited to have their families wear them. It was very sweet. So, whatever you all do is fine. :-)

White is universal, easy to find. But whatever the group decides is OK. We just need to set a decision date so everyone who wishes to participate may be able to do so.

I usually send them about 3 to 4 weeks before PIR just in case thete are any changes. I am already working on the ribbons for this group. They look very good. Please come back and post a comment when you get them and let me know what you think.

It looks like white is in the lead. I went shopping today and bought a white scarf at Target for $12.99 since it was the only one left. I can always exchange it for a different color.
I don't think that wearing something to show solidarity with each other and all the SR's in anyway detracts from their accomplishments. It was definitely NOT intended to do that, but the exact opposite. It's been done in the past and is an idea I found on this site.
I guess we could write to our kids for their opinions.
