For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I think I want to be where you are! I just came in and it's 21 with the sun out and snowbanks over your head. I think I'm just getting too old for the cold....
My son called this am--finally got to talk to him-if only for a few minutes. He said it really isn't bad and that he made the right decision. He graduated from college 2 years ago and was not able to find anything in his field. My younger son was actually going to talk to the recruiter and Ry went with him--and he ended up signing up. So, it's a good thing.
He also said he has to have his wisdom teeth out (??) and if there is any problem w/that his PIR date could change. So I guess I have to wait on the airline tickets

lisap, just have to tell you, after this whole conversation about snow... They are calling for snow here....maybe...for the first time since 1976! As I type this there is a dusting of snow on Mt. Diablo...the one that's about 1000' tall! Too funny!

We had one day of 60 degrees and the next it was 22 with 50-60 mph winds and snow. I think it's time to head south!

My SR's letter to his girl friend was much more detailed. He said the Brotherhood is coming around. Anyone's SR's leave out of KC?

I received a wonderful letter today too! So good to finally hear in his words how it's been for him...he sounds very positive and focused...He said he's made a few good friends one being his bunk mate! He said the food is all good! I'm thankful and encouraged after reading his letter! Glad to read others are hearing from their SR's as well!

Hi, everyone. My husband is in this division. (To our shock, since he was supposed to be in DEP until June - they really mean it when they say they can change the contract, including ship date, at any time!).
I received a very short letter from him -- he says that he's made a couple friends and the food is surprisingly good. I've been crossing fingers and toes for a phone call, but doing a lot of chanting to myself that no news is good news. It makes me feel better to read here that no one else has gotten a phone call beyond the 'arrived' one.

No phone call or letter today...maybe tomorrow. I just pray if my son does call he won't call during school drop off/pick up time! Ahhhhhhh! This is so hard. Every day for the last 18 years I have known where my son was and what he was doing. I have never gone more than a day without talking to him. What a change this is. I agree with those Moms who say this is bootcamp for us too! :)
