Ok figured I needed to start this discussion:

Who are we?  Which SR are going to Nuke School in this PIR Group?

What have you heard from your SR on when they will ship out to Goose Creek, SC?

And any other questions please feel free to present if I have forgotten anything.

My SR is going to Nuke School.

My SR has told me that he may ship out on Saturday, but he was also told Sunday, so he told me he would try to figure out what the real deal is by talking to his RDC's as soon as he thinks its a good time.

I havnt heard a thing from mine.  I think there are quite a few nukes in this PIR.  That might change things.    I'm still crossing my fingers that my SR survives boot camp.  I sure hope it get easier in "A" school.  If i know my son at all, he'll be fine with all the academics in school...its the really hard stuff like marching in a straight line and folding clothes that's killing him.  lol
my SR will be going to goose creek as well .. but i have not heard any details yet :(
I don't know if it's too late to jump on this band wagon, if it is please disregard.  My SR is also going to Nuke school, from what I have gathered so far, they will attend A school first.  During I believe their 2nd week of BC, they were to choose or apply for which A school they wanted Electronic's Tech, Electronic's Mate or Machinist's Mate. The electronics school are 6 months the machinists is 3.   Following that they will go on to Nuclear Power School, which is another 6 months, followered by Nuclear Prototype school yet another 6 months.  To date I have not from my SR, which A school he applied for or was qualified for.  I do know he was shooting for one of the Electronics school.  To date I also don't know when they will be leaving GL'S for S. Carolina.  I'm hoping for at least one days liberty with him.  Again I know I'm late joining these groups, but I do look forward to meeting with all of you in just 11 days can you believe it!
My son says he leaves at 2am Saturday morning for school.  He says the first 4 weeks are intensive, kinda like their own boot camp.  Then 10 weeks later he gets to come home on liberty for 2 weeks.  He's already chosen his position.  I'm sure the information changes as they go along but this is the latest I was told last week.  I can't wait to meet all the moms.  Everyone has been a great support system for me.  I'm so excited, I can't concentrate on anything else. :)

From what I have read, and this may not be entirely correct, they leave for S. Carolina by division #, when they leave GL depends on how many from their ship and div are going to S. Carolina, also weather they are traveling via a chartered flight or commercial.  Although I can't for the life of me remember where I read this.  There is just so much information in these different groups that it can't be a bit overwhelming.   Everything is so different from when I graduated BC soooooooooooo many years ago!  Although I'm relieved that I'm not the only one that can't concentrate.

Thanks for the updates.  I figured my son was telling me what he knew at the time.  :)  I have no expectations of when he leaves or what he will want to do when we're there.  LOL  I will be so grateful to be in the same city as him even.  I will be wherever he is for as long as he is.  Have a great day everyone!
My daughter is also going to Gooose Creek. She indicates an early Saturday departure. I am thrilled she will be there since her sister lives in Carleston. I get to visit two at once! I (ship 12 div 97)
Thanks for this group... will be going to Charsleton SC...he said he was leaving at 2 am  Stauday morning.  I've heard nothing new to this.   Still praying and wondering the exact date of their Battle Stations.  Nuke school is his vision and dream.  Go Nukes   Go Navy!

I will be at the Meet and Greet at the Ramada    anyone else here going to be there?   Have you got your name tag?   I"m so thrilled I got a postponement from jury duty for Federal Court!!!!  They dropped that on me Last Thursday...Glory to God.  (I'm sure the rest of the family could have made it without me but.....)

Hello, my son's last letter said that he'll leave on Saturday...didn't state a time.  I'm just looking forward to hugging him!

I did get a letter from my SR today, confirming that yes he is shipping out of GL Saturday as well.
